    Ellison 9

    Fronted by singer-songwriter Derrick Devine on vocals, Dublin-based
    ellison9 derived their name from (amongst other things) a care unit in an
    American hospital for people with serious heart defects.

    Counting acts such as Calexico, Nick Cave, Wilco, Elliott Smith and dEUS
    amongst their influences, ellison9's sound places quiet, gently plucked
    guitar numbers alongside louder, angrier moments. Dark, intelligent lyrics
    and melodies combine with off-kilter guitar lines, bass, drums, violins
    and even the occasional blast from an orchestral trumpet.

    Stanley Super 800

    Part of the blossoming Cork music scene Stanley Super 800 make psychadelic pop in the vein of Beck and Super Furry Animals. They recently released their eponymous debut album.

    Herm

    Herm was found singing in the bushes on a small channel island 25 years ago by local band El Diablo. Since then he has branched out on his own and, along with band The Selves, recently launched the Rosemary EP in Whelan’s. Following the example of Tom Waits, The Beastie Boys and Beck Herm dips his fingers in many stylistic pots. Released on Catchy Go Go records, the EP is a collection of pop songs about envy, lust and heartbreak while the live repertoire goes from piano-led torture ballads to good-time hip-hop.

    Paul Woodward

    Paul Woodward is an excellent Dublin based singer songwriter who recently released his debut album "Field Recordings" a varied and imaginative collection of pop songs.
