Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

anyone got experience linking 2 offices. There is not direct line of site but we can move the antenna a few metres to establish that.

The problem at the moment is we're using 2 Dlink DWL 900+ APs (22Mb) and their not overly stable. Also, we find that other wireless activity in the area is causing interferance every now and again.

Can anyone recommend any really good 2.4Ghz gear. I'm not sure what antennae we're using at the moment, but their getting us a connection around a corner. The offices would be within 200m of each other.

    Would you recommend 5.8Ghz gear?

I'm just getting into this stuff myself, but AFAIK you should be using decent directional antennae for point-to-point - that should minimise interference, and concentrate the available signal in the right direction.

Have a browse around the IrishWAN forum - loads of good info there. I intend to set up Linux-based APs myself, built on PCs or laptops, rather than use commercial gear, but that's my choice - obviously, the right commercial gear will work as well.

I'm guessing the lack of LOS is your real problem. I have a couple of situations where one antenna has poor LOS to another (mostly due to trees). The signal strength is fine, but the quality is not. If you can move the antenna to establish LOS, I would.

Not a bad idea. It's getting very affordable, and it's much less likely to suffer from interference problems.

I have set up a 4km link using EnGenius 2.4Ghz gear from www.wifisolutions.biz, this worked through trees where other brands failed. The equipment is more expensive but offers much higher sensitivities.
