    Newbie here,

Don't know a whole lot about poker. Before playing 'for real' in the Fitz or the Merrion, I want to start online. Would like to play for a few buckeroos, not for free. What site do you recommend?

A friend is on Partypoker and loves it, and he'll get $50 if I sign up there. I voluntarily banned myself from Ladbrokes.com about 6 months ago (found a slot machine in the casino I loved and needed to remove access to it before it became a problem) but could probably re-start my account if I wanted to. Not that I plan to make money, but I am looking for somewhere very reliable, that will not rip me off, and that have trouble-free withdrawals.

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance :)

Partypoker has the softest games, and the widest selection, although they are a pretty slow on cashouts - they don't cash out to credit cards so they have to send you a $US cheque which you lodge to your bank account, which all takes about three weeks, at least.

Pokerroom do let you cashout to a credit card (still takes about a week), and the games are a little tougher - bear in mind this 'toughness' is relative so if you are any use whatsoever you should have no problem making money.

Having said that you need to be prepared for a lot of bad beats, patrticularly if you play limit, as some players (ok most of them ) are so loose that you'll get sucked out on quite a bit.
