Help formatting hard-drive Win98

    hey there!
    i need some help formatting a harddrive running win98. when i try to format it by rightclicking on the c: drive . i get an error message stating that this harddrive cant be formatted as it holds files that are needed for windows to run. any help here much appreciated. also will i be able to install it in a machine running Win2000. its a fairly old harddrive.

    Is your current windows on the harddrive that you wanna formatt?

    Thats good then. Ok click, start>run, then type in 'cmd' or 'command', then a black box will appear. Inside this box type 'format x:' Where as put the letter of the hard drive in place of the x ;)
