Some of the more chilled Opeth songs like Patterns In The Ivy, Face Of Melinda, Harvest, or To Bid You Farewell.
    Or the album Damnation.

Don't know if it's still available as it's a few years old now, but Morning White Dove by One Dove is my all-time favourite chillout album. Worth getting your hands on if you can.

Some Opeth stuff is just amazing to listen to when chilling out in a dark room. I love Harvest.

Right heres the girly coming out in me,you could try some shea seger, i think the albums called may st...or even chris cornells(as in sound garden/audioslave) eurphoria morning, or even pearl jams binuarl, or even parts of mark lanagan bands bubblegum-then again im just a sucker for that kind of voice...or if you like your rock you could always try an acoustic album-not one of those compliations-ie acoustic 1,2,3,etc-rubbish, but some think like an unplugged album like nirvana's live in New YOrk or even Eric Clapton-don't diss the old man, he f**king rocks the Casban. :D

I urge you to check out Elliot Smith as chillout music. Or if you want something chill-outy with a bit of funk an Hawaiian guy called Jack Johnson is fantastic

Maybe YANQUI U.X.O. by Godspeed You! Black Emperor is what your looking for.
ignore the name. 70 minutes long with 5 tracks. Its basically an entire orchestra playing some awesome stuff. hard to get into though.

This is far from chillout, Godspeed leave you on edge! Great album but not chillout IMO.

Windsor For The Derby, Sigur Rós and the Flaming Lips are my preferred chillout choices.

I recommend any bands Steven Wilson is involved with (Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No-man, Bass Communion)... all great stuff.

I'm in the middle of making a CD for myself along these lines aswell.

    So far I've got:-

The Frames - In The Deep Shade
    Fleetwood Mac - Albatross
    Air - All I Need
Brian Eno - Deep Blue Day
    The Beatles - Norwegian Wood
    Primal Scream - Trainspotting
    Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground
UNKLE (feat Ian Brown) - Be There
Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings (From Platoon, I think?)
    The Doors - The End
Some Pink Floyd will probably fall in there aswell.

Yeah, Porcupine Tree are fantastic, I was listening to them today odly enough. Lightbulb Sun is a great album. Haven't really heard any of the other bands though, must look into it.
