Did Midnight Oil's album, Blue Sky Mine , come out in the late 80's or was it early 90's? The whole album was great. Or I'd pick the entire Lost Boys soundtrack.

ALTERNATIVE ULSTER - Stiff Little Fingers
    Teenage Kicks - The Undertones
    I Will Follow - U2

Then there's loads others. Oh, the memories.
We didn't have the d'internet back then you know. Or mobiles. If we wanted to meet our mates we had to arrange it weeks in advance.
And do you remember the Cold War?! Wow, the world was a safer place then when we faced distruction a 100 times over.
Oh, and Buck's Fizz! Do you remember them? Or drink it? Both were yuk, except when they pulled off the skirts.
And do you remember having just one channel? Then RTE2 came along. Wow, 2 CHANNELS! Now we had choice!
And do you remember being cold, and hungry? High unemployment, high inflation, high interest rates, high emigration and pints for 42p. A packet of Tatyo for 5p. A Mars bar for 12p. And do you remember when the price of a can of Coke when up to 15p! The outrage!
They were hard times but good times.

80's were the best for music. Purely in the electro-pop style my top three would be

The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star
Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)
Information Society - What's on your mind (Pure Energy)

they seemed to like brackets on song titles in the 80's.

Obviously for me in all types of music The Smiths very much stand out...
