Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

6 movies on general release this weekend, and I want to see 4 of them.

Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow
    Layer Cake
    Man About Dog
    Saw
    De-Lovely
    Mambo Italiano

Can't wait to see Saw (boom boom)

    Whats everyone going to see?

    Saw and Skycaptain.
But mostly Saw. I can't wait really, I hope I'm not disappointed after. But I'm pretty much a sicko so I'll probably love it.

I've been wondering how to see these movies too - so many to catch!
First off, I can help it, is 'Saw' although, as usual, I'm struggling to find peopel to go see it.

Then I also want to try and catch 'Dead Man's Shoes' (UGC and possibly Screen) on... say 'Saturday'. If I'm feeling tough I'll take in another movie then too - 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow'.

Depending on how I feel later on I may try for the 'Layer Cake' preview screenings.

If I get up early enough on Sunday I'd take in 'Man About Dog' next which leaves 'De-Lovely' and 'Mambo Italiano' as "maybes" only. I can't see every flipping thing and their reviews are quite mixed. I mean I have to clear up because next week, among others, we get the "new" Tony Scott movie, 'Man on Fire' as well as something else which doesn't sound too bad...

saw, sky captain and man about dog look interesting

i wont see them for a few days probably, because ive still got a few backloads of films to see(save the green planet, switchblade romance etc...) plus there's the stranger than fiction festival in the ifi :D

TBH saw and man about dog are the only ones I'd consider.

Sky Captain is supposed to be average.

The one I'm most interested in is Dead Man's Shoes. I saw the trailer for it before Switchblade Romance last week and couldn't wait to see it. Hotdog had a piece about it (and Paddy Considine in particular), which made it seem even better than I'd first thought.

However, Man About Dog couldn't look any less appealing to me.

sky captain got 6.7 on imdb which is firmly in the 'very' average band.

saw looks good though, so i'll probably go and see both.

review of layer cake wasn't that great on tv3 this morning, the old baldy man who does their reviews said not as good as it's inspirations (lock stock, snatch etc.). put it more on a long good friday or gangster no.1 level.

might be worth a look tho.

Anyone who knows my post history on this Board knows i'm dying to see 'Saw'

Am going to see it tomorrow night for sure!

Wouldn't mind seeing 'Layer Cake' too!

I saw Man About Dog and it's okay. A few obvious jokes but on the whole it was alright. If you've seen the trailer you know what to expect.

    0.

Saw layer cake at the first preview in UGC. Its alright but no where near as good as lock stock or snatch. I think it just didn't have enough humour (although there was on roll on the floor laughing moment). There's much worse you can see.

Sky Captain seems to be all style no substance. I'll probably go see it since its style is so original.

I went to see Layer Cake last night. Really good film. Its not a comedy that just happens to have a gangland setting like Snatch or Lock Stock were. It does have its moments of humour though, where the everyone in the place was laughing. Only thing i was slightly dissapointed in was
the ending - just thought it jarred too much with the pace of the final scenes. Like doing a nice even 50 mph down the motorway then hitting a speed bump. Moral of the story to be completely ruthless I guess.
