Will you be looking for staff? Paid or otherwise?

    When would you start broadcasting?

Would the content/schedule change much from what it was pre-licence?

All the details of the above are advalable in the proposal which you can view on the bci site

Just looked through both remaining proposals, it has to be said it's not just a case of Phantom turning up and collecting the licence. This XFM crowd are every bit as professional, as you'd expect from what is in effect a franchise.

Overall though, I'd be a pretty surprised and disappointed if Phantom didn't get it. I can imagine Xfm trying to simple transfer their successful London format over here and we'd end up with NME FM and I don't think anyone wants that.

Phantom's proposal also has more of an emphasis on the benefit it could have (and has had) on the scene. Phantom deserves the licence IMO.

well I suppose phantom are in a better position to start broadcasting earlier than xfm could, with already having staff and some sort of infrastructure already. XFM would have to hire staff, rent premises etc etc..

but, I'd like to know that too... how soon could either party start broadcasting?

Just to clarify briefly. XFM have been eliminated from the licence process at the shortlist stage. The only two contenders left are Phantom FM and Zed FM. Both will make their pitches on Monday week in the Conrad and a decision will be made in early November.

The start dates for either contender are pretty similar too, with both looking at an on air date towards the middle of 2005. Will take that long to sort contracts, hire staff, convert premises etc.

    Now, its getting tense!

Just on the note of the public hearings, just how public are they? Can anyone come along or do you ring up for a ticket or what. Id be interested in going along to see how these things are done. ..and for free tea..

I fairness when specialist radio licences were being issued before country fm got their bid approved ahead of phantom which i personally thought was rediculous, would really love to see them get a licence, is there anyone we could email to try persuade???
