This might be good news for for ntl customers:

    http://www.level3.com/press/5397.html
Level 3 will support ntl’s consumer and business broadband offerings with (3)CrossRoads®, its wholesale high-speed Internet access and transport service. Specifically, Level 3 will supply ntl with multiple 2.5Gbps ports in Manchester and diverse 10Gbps ports in London. In addition, ntl has purchased (3)CrossRoads service from Level 3 in Dublin to enhance the Internet services it delivers to enterprises and wholesale communications companies across Ireland.

Maybe the installation of this service is what was causing the problems we were having with NTL! :D

Nothing would suprise me about ntl. If it is true, why didnt they put a message up on their site saying that theres work going on and the connection will be crappy for a few weeks. Fingers crossed that it doesnt go crap again.

I pm'd you about this, but I might as well put it here aswell. If you can get NTL and you're a gamer then get it. From what I've heard from friends that have it, IBB isn't steady enough on the ping front.

1.5 meg and 256 up !!! sick of IBB !!!! Is this a good choice for gaming ??

choosing the 1.5 or the 1mb or the 750
there won't really be much of a differenace in pings to games

But NTL pings are better than Eircom and IBB !!! I've been told !!! is this true ??

Well, you give me a few ips
and I'm sure someone here on eircom and ibb will help to see which one could be better
ntl are better for pinging to uk servers than eircom and ibb
where eircom and ibb would most likely be better pinging to irish servers
but then if you go outside ireland and uk i think ntl would have the better ping over all to toher eu countrys

I've almost identical pings on the 750kb service. The download speed does not necessarily effect the trial ping rates.

im on ntl 750, never had any major problems, had the connection for about a year now and only twice have i had the connection drop, and a reset of my modem and router solved the problem.

to those of you do have problems: when you ring ntl, remember, its not always the fault of the person on the other end of the phone, they just work in a call centre, i used to work in one and people presume just because your on the other end of the phone its your fault, quite often these people are nearly last to find out about issues which could help resolve the very problems people are calling about.
