so hang on. if i get a 2 month trial with halo 2 i put in that code i get and i wont get charged for 14 months then? and what if i dont want to keep it? can i cancel it?

You get a free trial and once those two months are up you decide whether or not you want to pay. If you decide not to you wont be able to use your xbox live tag with a new trial token.

The s-type pad is also horrible. Using the white and black buttons is impossible so I'm playing without 2 essential buttons and my combos are suffering.

What are you talking about?? The two triggers work perfectly in the game because the two High attacks dont need to be done rapidly. Using the trigger and a button at once to do an EX move is a lot easier than pressing two buttons at once with the pad.

Also on a side note I finished the game with every character and now I can use Gill online which is stupid because he's so overpowered. Capcom really didn't think the online side through once again.

I prefer using a 6 button configuration. Anything else just doesn't feel right. And the loss of those two essential attack buttons is really bad if you play against some one who is really good. Also the analogue stick gets in the way of the d-pad. Have to say the s-type is far better than the PS2 pad.

Thats what I'm saying though, it seems ridiculous to just not use two actions just because they're assigned to the triggers. I don't see how the analogue stick gets in the way of the dpad considering that very few moves require you to use anything other than the bottom 5 directions. I'm not disputing that theoretically 6 face buttons should be better than 4 face and 2 triggers since thats closer to the arcade layout but in reality it works out a little different. If you think about it you're using 3 fingers in the arcade whereas on a pad with 6 face buttons and a dpad you can only use your thumb to press two buttons at once. If theres two triggers you can use 4 buttons at once which is a hell of a lot better than constantly shifting your thumb around. In CvS2 you can do a roll with your right thumb, buffer a 360 with your left thumb and then use your right index finger to press strong punch. For me this means a lot less thumb movement letting you pull off moves quicker.

But if you've been playing SF2 for as long as me you will prefer the 6-button layout. Played it so much in the arcades along with the other capcom fighting games that it is blasphemy for me to use anything less than 6 face buttons. Also the official saturn 6 button pads (drool) that I'm using on my japanese saturn don't help matters They're beautiful!. I think of using one button to function as two or more buttons as cheating. Also I find for all controllers with shoulder buttons the left trigger is hard to use for special moves. Actually most of my friends who didn't play SF2 as much as me prefer the 6 face button layout. But my bigest reason for recommending 6-face buttons is that it is more authentic. Anyway different strokes for different folks.

The analogue stick gets in my way while trying to do airbourne special moves.

What? On the ps2 pad, you must have some fat fingers

Talking about the xbox pad. I've other reasons to not just not like the playstation pad for capcom fighting games and even more that make me loath it.

The PS2 in europe didn't include SF3 and also had no online support which are imo the two best things about the xbox version.

Ah okay, I got mine in the US so I do have SF3. Still no online of course, although part of me thinks that even fractional lag could kill any enjoyment I might get out of it. If that's not the case however, I may well consider getting the XBox version at some point.

Using a pad no matter how many buttons are on it's face is still nothing like the real thing since you're using a dpad and your fingers are in different positions which is why I'm building my own arcade stick as theres no decent premade ones for the xbox.

Have you even tried playing SF3 online?

Did you see the magic box? it allows you to use Playstation 2, Dreamcast and Saturn joypads/joysticks on the xbox. You could get one of them from lik-sang and a hori real arcade pro playstation 2 joystick or the official sega dreamcast arcade joystick which are both really good quality.

Haven't played SF3 on-line yet. Waiting for some time off so i can make the most of my free time on xbox live. Only got my own xbox awhile ago.

Well like I said earlier in the thread the online side of 3S is severely broken and in dire need of patching so I wouldn't go around waxing lyrical about that part of the game just yet...

I'll check out the magic box, thanks.

Despite having sf3 and online mode it still has a much less score on gamerankings than the ps2 version got. Its not the may west on ps2 to be honest, id just rather play capcom vs snk
