What does the L.E. stand for in the titles of Irish naval vessels?

e.g.: The "L.E. Aoife" is taking part in the current rescue mission for the Canadian submarine in trouble 100 miles off the Irish coast.

    Anyone?

Should of course be Irish Warship. Don't know if there's a word for 'warship' in our dead language though.

It's HMS not HMW (see also USS)

/me sits back and waits to see if an island nation that has sufferend foreign invasions (remember the sack of baltimore by slavers/pirates back in the 1700's) has a word for "war" ship [/sarcasm]
