Yes. Everyone who has ever had Windows 98 has experienced this.

You want to be a little more specific when you ask a question next time? Heres an idea, read the link below...

Are the crashes random? Are they related to the use of a particular programme or use of certain hardware? Do you get the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH? and an error mesage usually something involving "fatal exceptions" and Kernel32.dll

Windows does'nt crash for NO reason, there's always a reason no matter how bloody obscure!

Have you checked your DirectX settings?

If you get a Blue Screen of Death (Big Blue screem which appera when it crashes). Take down, and post here the 5 lines or so of what it says. From these exact lines, I'll be able to figure out whats wrong, from certain bits of code it put there.

Windows 98 (and 95 and possibly DOS) had a bug where it would crash after 49.7 days (4 billion times 18 miliseconds)

Not a lot of people know this despite the fact that ten's of millions of Windows machines were in use every day, simply because it almost invaribaly crashed before then. (at this stage you'd be rebooting on the second tuesday every month)

Since you have made backups of your registry using the supplied ERU utility you can roll back to the last stable point. If you haven't then find ERUN on the cd and backup your system settings first.

The official blurb form M$ on windows 2000 was that it crashed 17 less often than NT 4 and 40 times less often than 98. Note: they did not say it did not crash, just crashes less. In comparison people have left Novell servers running on UPS's while they moved to new offices, and some people claim VMS has uptimes longer than the life cycles for most versions of windows.

Without an error message/symptoms all anyone can suggest is check for viruses/malware patch to the hilt - including Office & realplayer etc. / uninstall the last app added / remove all unneeded crap / reinstall windows & reapply all the patches again and remove windows and start again.

Also note that windows 98 and 98 SE are not exactly the same.
