Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Irish team jersey charity auction!!

    Hi folks:

I am posting this on behalf of an individual who has a signed Irish soccer team jersey from the Swiss match, given by the team for this fundraiser, which she is auctioning to raise money for two animal charities in Ireland, Kitten Adoption run by Jan Emslie (formerly with Catsaid) and Helping Hands (http://www.geocities.com/hhsr2004/) (come on now I know there are lots of cat/kitten fans among the soccerati  and anyway, the prize is great!).

Tickets are a mere €2.50 each and €10 for five!

The draw (I'll post the date for the draw once we fix it, but likely in late November) will be supervised by a number of people from animal charities and by me -- I'm a journalist with the Irish Times (business and technology section, you can check me out at my weblog, http://weblog.techno-culture.com) and DeVore and a couple of mods will I hope vouch for my bona fides (after I send him that small bribe...).

I've agreed to help these folks out -- so crossed cheques for tickets can be mailed to me and be made out to me, and I'll get the tickets back to you, so please supply a mailing address (we decided this is easier as there are two charities to split procereds between). We'll likely do the draw in late November and I'll post results here and on Irishanimals.com. BTW I'm also a moderator on irishanimals.com so am very traceable... known to the gardai and all that.

    Good luck with the draw!

    Any questions, post 'em here.

Gandie, I've unstickied this just for a day or two so that it floats around in the main threads as I dont think it will get noticed as much amongst the stickies.

I'll sticky it again around wednesday or feel free to if my sponge of a brain forgets.

Sounds like a great prize even though I know little about footie I still support Ireland when we play :)

i hope that the jersey was washed after the game :) looks like a good prize, does it have to be a crossed cheque or will a postal order do? im sure i can get a cheque in the bank anyway!!! will head to the bank after college

A postal order is fine; just be sure to give me a name and phone number and preferably address as well, just in case someone can't read the handwriting, plus number of tickets you want!

    TICKET BUYING DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 14

so get those orders in so I can get tickets back to people!!

There's a pic of the jersey -- I can't upload images directly (unless the moderator gods see fit to do it for me) but you can have a look here:

The pic isn't great but you get the general idea -- lots of signatures on a shirt ;) .
