Specs problem

Recently bought a new laptop but the origional quake wont run on it. Its grand for all the newest games, I thought maybe windows XP had some sort of problem but I cant run it through DOS either. Help? Suggestions?

something like FuhQuake would be your best bet tbh.
or winquake if you dont want the fancy new graphics...
