A friend is getting UTV broadband soon. Just wondering how it is, have they improved at all? Remember constant posts on this board about downtime and crappy pings.

    So has it improved?

    Gid.

We've had a couple of upgrades since my "Clicksilver Users Gather Here" thread and pings and speeds have improved.

UTV still don't have peering with other irish isps, so all traffic to ireland has to bounce over to london and then back again. Because of this, if you're looking to play specifically on irish servers you'll get pings of ~50ms instead of the usual high 30s. As you see above, pings to the UK (and anywhere else) are as good as you'll get with any other isp.

Download speeds are consistently high, >50k/sec.

I usually play games on uk servers and I find the pings fairly good.

Although I don't play that much at peak times
