Criminally under-rated films

I know I'm gonna get major flak for this, but I honestly think that Hackers was severely under-rated. It was great for what it was, and it didn't pretend to be anything else. It was a film that tried to show the world that not everyone who likes computers is a teenager with spots and a pale face from no actual food or sunshine Mind u, we're not all studs like Jonny lee Miller or just downright gorgeous like Anglina Jolie. Computer society is a mixture of all of the above. It had a cool soundtrack, decent special effects, and some very funny moments ("Its got a 28.8 bps modem!!!!") So there u go....take it or leave it

AMERICAN HISTORY X - Speaks more about American culture than any other film

A Time to Kill - What a closing statement

THE CHAMBER - fine film

and i know it isn't under rated but you goota love THE GODFATHER

I'd agree with neuro-praxis - Run Lola Run was def. underrated - Although it did win a Golden Bear @ berlin film festival.
Pretty Village Pretty Flame : haven't seen it myself but a friend on mine spent 1/2 hour expounding on its merit, so it's one I am on the watch out for. La Haine is class too - worth skipping a lecture to watch in the college video library. Sadly I'd put money on you local Xtra-vision having at best 1 out of the three titles mentioned here. Criminal!

Being John Malkovich was in the video-rental top ten for months and everyone was going on about it. How can you say it's under-rated. Excellent film, yes, but under-rated?
