Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What was the best moment anyone here had (non sexual please, we dont need another thread about the time u screwed your ol dolls mother)?

I must say that the most recent, most satisfying moment was handing in my notice to my old job. The MD begged me to stay, made a ludicrous big offer to stay.

I even got in the line "you could double that again, and half my hours, and I still wouldnt be interested".

To see that jerk squirm and beg made my heart warm after the misery that guy put me through.

acid. the night I took acid.

I have never loved life, the universe and all of humanity as much as I did that night.

    Thankfully, it didn't last.

did you have the companies secret formula or something?

Dunno about that, but he seemed shocked and dismayed. Maybe he thought i had some filth on him.

As above, the passing of the driving test was great. What a relief. Though I must say, had it not been for the manky head cold I had at the time, id be re-applying yet Id say.

I got all my theory Qs wrong.

Got my 2 hand signals wrong.

Took off on an incline in 2nd gear.

Forgot to indicate a few times.

But the fact I could barely see from teary eyes, could barely breath except coughing and generally looked sh*t obviously shaded it for me.

    Jammy git eh!??!

Thankfully I have lots of them but the ultimate ones are the days I gave birth to my daughter and son. Seeing them look up at me for the first time when they were born was amazing. Nothing has come close to that feeling since.

Another great moment was when I got the key to my new house a few years ago. I was living in a really rough crap estate and hated it and it took me 2 months to get the mortgage sorted and really thought I wouldn't get the house. I got the key on 16th March and moved on Paddy's Day.

Sitting on the couch in a girlfriend's house watching TV with her lying with her head on my lap and realising, in the same moment as I noticed she was asleep, that I was utterly content with my life.

I've never again been that happy...

I've had a few moments like that...sad to see them slip away. It really shows you what matters in life. When I felt like that, money and things don't matter as much...I only chase money and 'worldly success' when I don't have that happiness and contentment.

When my mate saved my life by performing the Heimlich Maneuver on me outside a club as I choked on a bag of hula hoops in my mouth in one go.
well not exactly that moment but very shortly after I felt great !!

I had one of these the other day until 2 mins later, I completely ruined it by shooting my mouth off & her getting a bit offended by it [unusual since bugger all ofeends her really!!] ..... talk about a pain in the a**e!!! That'll learn me!!!!

Greatest moment for me was discovering that I wasn't mental, that life IS worth living & getting over a very serious bout of manic depression!

I think it was three and a half years ago. Since i was 6 months old, I've had kidney problems. It was because my urinary tubes had become twisted in knots and after 4 operations they finally got my urinary tubing back to godd health, but my kidneys were left 30% the size it should've been on the left and 60% on the right kidney!

But anyway, back to two and a half years ago, I was having my annual ultrasound and I was told that they growing! I was thrilled. They said this shouldn't have happpened until I was around 20, even though I was only 13 at the time, it was unlikely to happen even when I was 20!

And last year, They have grown even more! I think both those two days are my best so far in my life!

(P.S. I'm going for my next check up in three weeks. if anyone wants to know results, PM me and I'll try and reply to them!)

First time I kissed my ex, it was in Herbert Park, I'd just had dinner in Roly's with my family and was suppost to meet her for the last time before I moved abroad. We were walking around the park and there was this pefect moment as we escorted by an entourage of Magpies, we came to the top of the little lake and five swans flew over head, the world was full of summer and the happy sounds of familys out, and I leaned forward and kissed her. It was magical. We spent another 4 hours walking around that park kissing and holding each other.

The next day I told the company I was to work for to get stuffed, (not the words I used) and lied to everyone else saying I failed the last tests for the company.

Coming close second to that was the first time I woke up holding her in bed.

My proudest personal moment was passing Irish with a D1 when I repeated. I had studied my ass of to get even a D3.

Yep, first kisses from loved ones are really special. The first kiss from my first love was on a really cold night 7 years ago - he lifted me up onto the wall near the lake in UCD and I could see the swans in the background when he gave me the kiss - still gives me goosebumps when I reminice. Another special first kiss was from a guy that I dated a year ago - he was walking me home when we saw a fox on the road in front and after he gave me a hug he gave me a kiss. Must be an old fashioned romantic...

Seeing shooting stars are other magic moments.

Seeing Florence for the first time is another magical moment as is seeing the Eiffel Tower.

walking up to the colusseum in Rome in 18 degree freak weather in Rome in December thinking, yeah this is what i want to do, and this is what life is all about...

Driving accross northern italy and having a great laugh on the way..

singing on a bandstand in amsterdam

Christmas day in my gaf last year, were nothing went on fire, nothing got spilled and everyone just took the piss out of each other at the dinner table.

    many more.

Breaking up with my ex, on December 23rd 2001. It was the first time in two years I had finally stood up for myself and I found strength to get out of that awful relationship. Telling him that I didn't want to ever see him again, and knowing with my deepest conviction that I really never would see him again, was the most liberating and amazing feeling. Just to be free of him and his MASSIVE amount of personal problems and the abuse I got from him, I was crying with happiness.

Quitting smoking in May 2003, and staying off them til now. Even now, every time I see someone smoking, I get a little pang of glee and I feel proud of what I have done.

Some of my greatest moments have been in the past 2 years. Personally I have been through a lot of weird stuff, but gotten through it. And the relationship I am in now is just fantastic, and I count myself really lucky to have all that I have.

    Ah Jeebus, life is great!

AGGGHHHH that fúcking game cost me dearly..... I had to walk 2 miles to supermac's for a snackbox for one smug c*nt.

My own was the birth of my son. It's hard to top that one. Second would be when I passed my final exams in college. Over 100 started the course but only 5 of us passed the final exams.

5 years ago, I got the chance with my b/f to spend 5 days straight in bed over the christmas, watching dvds, eating food, drinking a ridiculous amount of wine, beer, champagne, smoking the bold stuff and lots of how's your father ;)
we only got up for food and the jacks
    fantastic :D

I can think of precious few right now, indicating I'm either a loser or just a pessimist.

Learning to play the bodhran was fun, if not exactly great.

Climbing on the roof of Gallarus' Oratory (a 12th century monastic cell near Dingle, Kerry, and most definately NOT something to be climbed under any circumstances) and getting stuck was really more infamous than anything else. Oh, the trouble I'd have been in if it had actually collapsed...

Getting my black belt after a decade or so of karate was, I will admit, rather satisfying. Too bad I quit...

    I would have to say

    birth of my daughter
seeing her perform on stage for the first time (i had to leave, I was crying)
ringing work and telling them i wouldnt be in for 3 days - and then spending those 3 days in bed with the current missus (bliss!!!)

and then there always the trivial things that very important to the individual, but irrelevant to everyone else :)

The one that i remember best (the most recent) was when middlesbrough won a trophy for the first time ever, the league cup last season. When that really haunting music (anyone know what it was btw?) came on as the team were going up for the trophy, it all just sank in and i felt absolutely elated. That feeling lasted for a couple of weeks.

Still get the shivers thinking about it now!

Flying back from Saudi Arabia in the early eighties as a 13 year old and seeing the sunrise over the curvature of the earth, was truly mesmerising and beautiful.

She wasnt that bad was she??? ;););)

Giving up smoking was great alright. It was 4 years last Tuesday.

Another great one was finding out I had passed my Maths exam in 1st yr college, and knowing at that very moment that I would never EVER have to do another maths exam again. Oh how I suffered with Maths throughout my education.

I bumped into my lecturer in the new term, he said I had actually failed, but he couldnt bear to see me fail as i had really tried so hard. First time in my life i ever really broke my nuts to do anything.

    Happened today.

Gave up a good job 20 months ago (new owners had ruined it) went self employed and had some sh*t times wondering if I've done the right thing. No holidays and precious few days off since then. I don't mind that but the family thinks that it's a bitch.

Phone call today from a recruitment agency looking for me to work for one of their clients for silly money. Made me realise yes I am sh*t hot good at what I do and never again have to say "yes sir/no sir" to some twat who thinks that he knows my job better than I do.
