Fixing a zipper on a jacket?

Bad day. The zip on my bike jacket has broken (like the metal zipper bit, not the bits that fit together). Broken off completely, the metal has snapped in half. The jacket has buttons half the way up it, and velcro the whole way up, but I suspect a bit of rain, and I might as well not be wearing the thing. It would cost…

The jacket has buttons half the way up it, and velcro the whole way up, but I suspect a bit of rain, and I might as well not be wearing the thing. It would cost €250 to replace the jacket, which I really can't afford right now, and there's no way in hell I'm driving around without a bike jacket.

Any ideas?
