Providence sells 27m Eircom shares

    The [Irish Times] reports that Providence, one of the investors that originally took Eircom off the Stock Exchange in 2002, has sold the bulk of its stake in the company for EUR42 million. The venture capital firm placed 27 million shares at EUR1.56 each through stockbrokers Morgan Stanley and Davy on Tuesday, netting it EUR42.12 million. Providence retained 8 million Eircom shares.

    It is a bit of a mix here - ordinary users, business users, some people working for telcos and others in the information/market intelligence business. The common factor: the lack of broadband in Ireland.
