Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

CALVIN JAMES (House turntablism - 4 decks, no headphones)
JOHN MAHON & TOM BEARY (INTRO comp winner)

This is the last in a series of berf-day parties ( 1 year at Wax, blah de blah...) and so far every one of them has sold out before 12.30, and that's just the way it is, no nonsense or hype there. which is a great thing coz we've stuck with an all-Irish line-up and no international guests were hurt in the making of this month. Jesus we're great altogether!

Anyway this week, to finish things off, we have arguabably the biggest 'star' in Bodytonic doing one of his house turntablism sets. We've been raving about Calvin James for a while now, and gave him his biggest stage at our tent at Electric Picnic where , for many, he was the best thing on show. This week he does his thang for us, and he dont do it very often (maybe 3/4 times a year) so if your interested , come on down and have a goo. Music wise Calvin plays anything from deep and tribal ( MAW, Roy Davis Jnr) to Jackin house and funky techno (DJ Sneak, Maurizio, Luke Vibert) - bit of everything really within a house spectrum is how he'd describe it.

The middle slot goes to Tom Beary who was voted our 'best new dj' to play at Bodytonic. Over the last year we gave slots for new guys to play to around 20-30 djs (we think!) and thought it a good idea to get the best one to play on our b-day. although it was tough picking a winner (coz everyone we brought in was really good - we dont book them unless they are anyway) , Tom wins out probably because he has an acute understanding of what it takes to warm up a club and he was also not afraid to play soul, funk, reggae and disco in his sets for us either, and we like a DJ who doesn't stick to the 'rulebook' .

Warming up we have John Mahon. One of the main men in Bodytonic, John is well known for liking girly house, talking too much and dancing like a tit behind the decks. and not much else really.
