Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I am a Graphic Designer, therefore my job requirements would be to show a portfolio. If going through a recruitment agency that has an 'attatch c.v.' option , it leaves me with just the option of a C.V. Should I dedicate a couple of pages on that c.v. to having my portfolio visible on it rather than just a URL to ensure it is viewed, thanks for any replies.

Perhaps just mention on the CV that a portfolio is available on request?

Well, in fairness, your CV isn't the place to be showcasing... Thats what your portfolio is for... You could always put up a web page and put the address to that...

I CV is supposed to be one or two pages max. If a portfolio isn't asked for then maybe don't attach it but give a link to it on your CV. Mention that if they would like to see a hard copy of it then it can be sent.

yeah you want to make a lasting impression, just don't put too much info on your CV.. put enough to make them want to see more. It'll make sure they don't just let yours on the side. be selective.. even ask others for their opinions, pick striking pieces that will attract attention.. but nothing too outrageous either!!

I did graphic design for a few years, but changed course then. Have a few friends from the course that are working in the area, and most of them just attached a cd as well as the url and cv.

makes sure that if one option isn't working, that they can't just skip your application. :D

thanks guys thats a good idea with the c.v. I was thinking tho of just emailing it thru the agency, which leads to my next question! i've heard of agencies tweaking your c.v. to suit the job, which is fine if theres something that needs changing. If sending electronically I would like to use the .pdf format, do recruitment agencies have a preference over file formats anyone know ? thanks again

It would all depend on the which agency you are sending the CV to. But the only way to be sure what they want is to ask them not us.

The majority of agencies (those that do not specialise in Design) will want a plain, with as little formatting as possible MS Word CV, as they generally just enter it all into a database and select people on the keywords, skills, and experience that are in the CV. They'll edit it to remove your personal details and send it out to clients. The client will choose you based on your CV and then at the interview stage you'll present your CV. Or the client will request to see you portfolio and you'll leave it in or send them a list of links to your online portfolio.
