Like The Mummy (soft porn sh1te) or Interview with the Vampire (whiny, boring sh1te)?

I have never been impressed with her work and find it takes alot of effort for me just to throw her books away.

Yeah myself and her indoors read the old vamp stuff of rice's alright, but like you said the last 3/4 books have been pure self indulgent b0llo][. The first 3 were a great read though, if you want some hardcore "rip off your head" type vamps try Brian Lumleys necroscope series, seriously good stuff. Although similar to Rice he to has gotten a bit stale recently

Necroscope series by Lumley is excellent.
Havent bothered to go into his other series.
But it is definitly the most refeshing look at the Vampire life cycle. Not your standard stale Bite and Suck.
    Excellent.
    Well reccommended

    Lumley:

Necroscope (I - V): Brilliant. One or two plot mechanics I didn't like but the Wamphyri are an excellent adaptation (my gaming group: keep an eye open and a lot of kneblasch handy smile.gif )

Vampire World: 1 - 3, sequel to Necroscope and, IMHO, superior to it's predecessor. Even more info about the Wamphyri (or is that wampyrhi??). Vasagi is still my favourite...

Psychomech: non vampire. A bit strained but the last one (psychosphere?) has a great twist. Reads almost like a film

Right now, I'm trying to hunt down some of his Cthulhu stuff (preferably the Titus Crowe books).

Have there been any films based on Lumley's work?

    Don't Piss me off!

I'm running out of places to stash the bodies.

"At present time, he is working on completing what he himself has said is "the final chapter in the Necroscope saga," the E-Branch trilogy. Starting with Invaders this May, the saga will have three more novels in it, at which the run stops at 13 ...unlucky?...perhaps, so maybe we will get more...we can only hope... "

A quote from the brian Lumley official page... by the way, it has a much nicer picture of the book-to-be, fits in better with the Necroscope and Vampire World covers..

Now, I'm off to find out if anyone has done a Roleplaying conversion of Wampyrhi... it'll save me a lot of bother... smile.gif

(I know one or two peeps who will just LOVE this news)

Don't think there's any movies being planned. Re his other stuff, i read psychomech but found it fairly bland and his fantasy stuff never read as this is not my bag. BTw there's a new one in the necroscope series out soon check here:
    www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0340739193/o/qid=924865343/sr=2-2/026-8823660-3348622
I've read all the necroscope stuff twice, which is the only time I ever did that, well apart from the full version of The Stand. Lumley was just one of those spur of the moment purchases, anyone else pick up an author off the cuff and been blown away by them?
