Oil stove?

New house being built at the moment and I am looking at
installing a low maintenance fire in one of the rooms.

Leaning towards an oil-fired stove at the moment, natural gas
not viable as we're out in the sticks and LPG would cost
    a bomb.

Anyone got any experience with oil stoves? Shouldnt be any
nasty smells as the stove pipe will go straight up the chimney
    (lined with a flue liner).

Does it need much cleaning (once a week to de-coke or
so I'm told)? Whats the heat output like?
