Well, at least you are upfront about it unlike IE Internet www.ieinternet.com

Check out the ".ie domains only €50* per year".

You'll note the * doesn't actually link or relate to anything else on the page, but as I found out recently it means "it's €50 to register and we'll ream you for €126 per year plus VAT every subsequent year and if you don't like it we'll threaten to pull the plug on your hosting as well and not even give you enough time to find someone else to host your site"

That appears to be their business model.

    Thank you, Magpie

Just one thing about .ie hosting, (this maybe of use to people who are unsure of .ie hosting) it shouldn’t be a trauma to change hosts, especially when it comes to .ie domain names. If you feel you are being screwed on a .ie , check out what the others have to offer.

You can choose a .ie host from this list http://www.iedr.ie/ListResellers.php

All a web hosting company (a host who is on the above list) needs to amend/adjust a .ie domain name is a letter from “the domain owner” to authorise the new host to administer the domain name on the owners behalf. Any host worth his salt should complete the process (that’s your new site live) within 48 hours of receiving the letter, (the letter can be faxed to your new provider) and should look something like this.

Letter should be on your own letter headed paper.

    “ To: IEDR

This is to authorise Ketec/Freehost to administer/amend the under mentioned domain name on my behalf

    YOURDOMAIN.IE

    Signed
    Joe Bloggs”

Replace “Ketec / Freehost” with your preferred hosting provider.

Although Damien is technically correct you should inform the losing provider expecially if they provide dialup services. Otherwise you will have DNS issues.

    hmmm, a half plug :)

seriously though, thanks for that. It does clear up many of the questions people have been asking about your service.
