    The Déise Once Again
To the tune of " A Nation Once Again." Source: upthedeise

When boyhood's fire was in my blood
    We were only dreamin',
For Cork and Tipp who bravely stood,
    Like one hundred against three men;
And then I prayed I yet might see,
    Clare not played in vain,
And champions of a province be,
    The Déise once again!

    The Déise once again,
    The Déise once again,
And champions of a province be,
    The Déise once again!

And from that time, through Dan's six goals,
Our hope in blue and white,
And Ken McGrath with his mighty blow,
Has shown us how to fight!
And John Mullane through thick and thin,
    Exiled, though not in vein,
And to the final, we will sing,
    The Déise once again!

    The Deise once again,
    The Deise once again,
And champions of a province be,
    The Déise once again!

And against the Cats, we will clash,
Giants, ten and four, and goalie,
We'll beat them with our sweat and ash,
    Our passions never lowly;
For goals they come, from Flynn's right hand,
    Our rivals will be slain,
And righteous men, will bring Liam back,
    To the Déise once again!

    The Deise once again,
    The Deise once again,
And champions of a nation be,
    The Déise once again!

cos we're being oppressed (mainly by ecksor who must have had one lousy wet week down here in his youth).

Okay he's from Kilkenny then. If its not that then and you know the root of his hostility to a Waterford board please say!

    Mike.

lol, Dicky Bandy caught me in work by the scruff of the neck a few days ago... still a the funny man... but scared the bejesus out of me...

    who is vice princpal now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭brettmirl

Flick (collins) was the vice-principal when i was there and Fr Flavin was the principal.

Mad Mick was principal and Dicky Bandy was vice the last time i heard.

Beefy was some langer. Jimmy Carew was a legend...as were Bernie and woody!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 115 ✭✭boomdogman

Bernie was great...........near total destruction in the science lab tho Bucket was really the man for that, opened a fire extingusher to make a cloud chamber, couldnt close it and caused chaos! Anyone remember Ralph Fieenes portrait of McGurran...........yes that Ralph Fiennes.

Bandy was a psychchobath. Remember he gave J.H. 12 on each hand, railway track welt/bruises acros his palms. The kid was 14. He should have been jailed.

Are you talking about Fr Bandy or Dicky Bandy?

    Never had Butty McGurran. Thankfully.

Ah memories of the glass hall!

Was stuck with Mad Mick for irish for 5 years,
Joe Lambe (really nice man) for Maths,
    Connolly for commerce/accounting,
    Hitler for science,
    Arsey for physics,
Beefy (just talked food for the year) and Carew (just talked soccer for the year) for French,
Beefy for Tech Drawing in 1st year,
Dicky Bandy for Spanish in first year and for English later down the road,
had Jean Dowling for english too.
    Pip for latin.
    Billy Bolster/Carew/Quane for PE.
Philo [pure nut case] for history/geography
a whole host of religion teachers.... Fr Ryan (legend), Fr Hennessy (Alice - a bigger legend)

Anyone remember Mad Mary? Batty Wemyss? Dano? Wasp?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭azezil

I danced with Jimmy Carews wife ;)

heh one of the few high points of my time there was kicking Wasp's ass in chess... gawd he sucks :P

I was there when the chess club stated up, back in ooo, 1987, and I was in the class when bernie hit a pupil in the back of the head, head flew forward and hit the bench in the sicence lab and gave him 4 stiches. Lucky he didn't loose his job.

Is Befy still there or more importantly Jean Dowling or has she let her self go (Shock)

Mick you must have been there in my time, ;) Mad Mary (Micks wife), Arsey surely not still there.Trot and alice, Dano and Dick.

Where you there when the starters went missing.

What was the name of the one that wore the boots, redhair, bit snobby.... I have it Murray now shes married don't know what her name is now

    Scabby Murray

There was another one called The Creature, can't remember her real name.

Fr. Bergin (sound man, a monsignior in Rome now)
Mad Mary (spreading the madness in the tech last i heard)
Squaw (couldn't understand her in any language)
Batty (nice lady, if slightly bizarre)
Seamie Knox (quick with the fists, break your jaw soon as look at you)
Connolly (could he have had a more boring voice)
Fruitso (still cringe when I think of him)
Pip (a more pig ignorant man I've yet to meet)
Johnnie Quane (an inspiration for us slackers everywhere)
Billy Bolster (thought putting you on report was the ultimate sanction)
Paddy Pig (great craic - though learned nothing from him RIP)
Gene Dowling (haunted the dreams of the most of the male population of Kilkenny at one time or other)
Nicky Cashin (Nothing like that booming Good morning fellows first thing in the morning when you're dying with a hangover)
Slut Phelan (arrived in a different car every morning)
Dick Scriven (As sharp a wit as you'll come across - he was there for the craic)
Dano Carroll (no sense of humour, there to shape young minds)
Mad Mick (could think of nothing better than spending the day singing IRA songs)
Flick (mostly to be found fast asleep in his office)
Art Anglin (retired about 1970, still there I think)
Alfie Sheehy (clever man, did the guard of honour at his funeral)

Arsey is now working in Rothe House as far as I know.

Yeah was there when the starters went missing. Was in 4th year then. From what i can remember, they started suspending the 5th years till someone owned up to it.
