Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone here got a Dreambox system? http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/Bereiche/Produkte/DM7000.php
We can't get sky+ installed in our apartment, just regular sky, and this looks like it'll fit our requirements for hard disk recording! And the fact it'll stream programs over LAN is fantastic.

Would like to hear experiences of them, especially if you had difficulty marrying the sky card to the box?

Im afraid your out of luck, sky cards will only work on sky's own receivers. But nearly every other satellite package in europe as far as i know work with it. Im sure someone else will let u know. I think its a great receiver but other people do not( you have to be fairly knowlegeable about ftping and other stuff), i stream from it to my modded xbox and i can change channels and even record stuff on to xbox hard drive. There is supposedly a few new versions of the dreambox coming out soon but there still will not be support for sky.

    ARGH!!!
Looks like we'll have to get a dvd recorder then. :-(

Actually, if I were to buy a hard disk based PVR recorder, could I hook this up to the sky digibox does anyone know?
    Or a dvd recorder?

Is there any way of setting up sky so you dont have to keep tuned into the channel you're recording?

Jeus Zintec are expensive, hm-sat.de offer much better value. There is rumblings that there is a version of a certain softcam that will allow sly cards to be used in the dreambox. If there is such a thing it will not be public! I own a dreambox and have ot say it is great fun if you like messing about with things and the streaming across the network is great. I record from mine direct to my pc's HDD.

    Hi,
For anything other than Sky Id go for a dreambox. Its great and the software is something else to use, really nice. As the lads say for Sky forget it.
If a legitimate Sky card was readable Id prob resubscribe and use the dbox alright.
WHat I discovered was the old V1 sky cards were readable in my dbox2(cousin of dreambox, or its poorer one!) but by then Sky had replaced them all. So, no luck there.

How come you cant get a Sky+ box? That seems v odd??

A pal of mine has one, TBH they are not so easy to operate, really for someone who likes to mess with different software and has lots of time, its a real hobby receiver!!!

Good luck with it and tell us in a week or so how you are getting on!!!

No, our balcony is on the same level as the roof garden which is surrounded on three sides by the top 3 stories of the building.
We can't get 2 feeds off the dish on the roof, just the one.

Thinking of getting one of these, it should work with a digibox, right?

at a guess i would say its the small chance that this could go into discussion of obtaining television channels illegally

I don't think dreamboxen can do this, they're just PVR's that will stream your satellite tv channels over your local area network.

Not exactly true, I know you only have one cable but depending on what way the cable is routed or switched you could use a device called a "diseq stacker/de stacker" made by a company called Johansson. Of course this would require some work by whomever installed your original wiring

"But nearly every other satellite package in europe as far as i know work with it"

Is there something wrong with saying that? Official cards for all the major satellite companies throughout europe work with the dreambox( as they dont marry the card to the receiver) as far as i know from reading about it.

Ah, the old question of what its :capable: of comes into question itself. Cmon you know how "good" enigma operating system is.

Avoiding more on this lukewarm topic, heres a link for anyone who likes to stream raw mpeg out of their dreambox or their Dbox2. Tuxvision is really processor hungry and v tempermental, ie crash etc. But the quality of the pic is a lot nicer than the rgb or video out from the receiver. And you can record too. A better one to use tho is WinGrabZ, it records it into raw M2P files.

    http://www.dbox2.info/download.php?catid=5&subcat=4

PM if you need any help using this prog. Good luck

Yes enigma is a good old OS. As for the streamingn I find the using wingrabE and then using a viewer like videolan to watch the outputted stream. Works well. Im curretly setting up NFS and gona move some of my plugns to the nfs drive as /var is getting mighty full!
