Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A Republican Voter's Mind

Those of you who read The Guardian tv critic Charlie Brooker's article about Bush will be aware that the article got taken down from the site. It was mirrored by a number of people like this blogger and he soon received a few threatening emails from people who thought that he wrote the bloody thing. One guy wrote this:
Careful you should be if you ever plan to come to America again. You know nothing about America, nothing. I am having a hard time trying not to issue my own death threat to you, but I know better where others may not. Only people who have the ability to think independently and are able to come to there own conclusions understand George W. Bush. People who don't trust hollywood love George W. Bush. People who love America love George W. Bush. I love George W. Bush and you should not say such things.

I was intrigued and decided to write to the guy to get an insight into a Bush voter's brain and so the following exchange took place.
Hi Brad, I noticed you sent an email to a guy who posted Charlie Brooker's evil article about killing president Bush on his website. You said "People who don't trust hollywood love George W. Bush." I found that troubling because one of my favourite Hollywood actors, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is currently governor of California and I'm pretty darn sure he loves his president! And what about actor Ronald Reagan, the man who destroyed communism? Hollywood is American capitalism's greatest triumph. I don't understand why any true American patriot would criticise it. People who hate Hollywood hate America, like anarchists like Charlie Brooker. Look at his www.tvgohome.com website and you'll see what I mean.
Hi thank you for taking the time to respond. Just for the record I do not condemn all of Hollywood especially the individuals in the industry, but I do condemn the general message. I voted for Arnold, and Regan was one of the best ever. I've grown up on Hollywood and it does produce goodness, but it's main goal is to create division, racism, drug use, homosexuality, socialism and anything that is against traditional American values, cheating is now more glorified than hard work. Most of the movie studios, TV stations, papers and music out lets are owned by about 3 or 4 corporations, and they control almost all the flow of information in this land. I just heard a new Eminiem song on the radio calling Bush Bin Laden, if you don't live in America it is hard to understand. I do love Hollywood I live 5 minutes from Hollywood and I know it is great, but I also know it can be the opposite, Burbank my town is the Media city home of NBC, Disney, Warner and others. As far as that website it took about 5 seconds of looking at it to see he is crazy. Thanks

Hi Brad, I see your point a bit more clearly. If I may say so, I think the problem is that Hollywood responds to consumer demand and liberals/socialists despite being a minority seem to be able to distort the market to suit their anti-christian agenda. Socialists, like many Hollywood actors and directors, are all power mad control freaks. Kevin Bacon is the most obvious example that comes to mind. Yes the US is difficult to understand from the outside but I've got quite a few American relatives actually (east coast) and I've spent many summers there so I do love the place. As for homosexuality. Ugh! I've just had it up to here with homosexuality! I've got homosexuals coming out my ears! I fear it's only a matter of time before every other Hollywood movie features obligatory gay 'love' scenes. I hope Brooker never works again. He's had it coming for a long time.
I really appreciate your views, you are so right about Hollywood's power hungriness. One good thing about being free we can always say forget it and not go anymore if it gets too bad. As far as Charlie I don't even know him that well I just heard what he said, as was obviously upset. But thanks again and I'm going to put you in my contact list and if I come across anything interesting of funny I send it on. It is nice to see there are clear thinking people living abroad.

Hi Brad, The problem with freedom is that others have the freedom to organise and deny us our freedom because they hate freedom. So basically we must identify the enemies of freedom within and without our societies and DESTROY them in detail by whatever means necessary. I worked that out when I was about 10 years old. Oh, and another thing I don’t get about homosexuality is that I just cannot for the love of the lord god imagine how a man could (continues here, avert your eyes please little ones...)

    Can you?

If Hollywood carries on the way it’s going, that’s all our children will ever see for entertainment. We’re staring at one heck of a bleak future. However with enough Bush voting people like you around I still remain optimistic that the tide of madness, greed and filth will be turned.

I still await a response but am not confident of getting one. I made a mistake initially by forgetting that he didn't know that the blogger was not Charlie Brooker but I think I got away with it. Dunno why I picked Kevin Bacon as an example but if I'd known that he just made a film playing a paedophile I would have mentioned that.

I think it's a troll regardless of where they originated. Quite amusing though!

I've requested he edit the last quote slightly.

in my defence, I think it's a counter-troll and interesting sociological experiment. I mean, look at your man's threat and loopy bigotry. Headers like this elect headers like this ("In South Carolina, Jim DeMint won the former Democratic seat by promising to abolish federal income tax and the internal revenue service.") to basically run the world.

Cultural conservatives tighten grip in Congress.

Is this the same Charlie Brooker that used to write for PC ZONE? Back then i always thought he was funny. He had a section in the back where he would respond to readers letters, usually just insulting them! Hes pretty funny i think anyway.

Yep he used to do PC Zone reviews and some cartoons.

I know better than to send you a death threat but you'd want to be f88king careful if you come to my neck of the American woods

Every morning I get up and insert my brain, flat side down. When I can't find it I know not to go typing on the interwebulator.

Champion troll (or counter-troll). Shame you didn't draw the guy out a little more before going for the outline for a porn movie paragraph but I suppose you didn't want to catch Bush-itis.

(bah, I had to add the hyphen in the last paragraph as the swear filter didn't like it)

I've tried visiting the fridgemagnet site in college and I've been told "This site is part of a blacklist of sites. Please read the AUP"

I like the "careful you should be" ye olde Englishe bit. What is he? A 17th century puritan?

I'd planned to steer him down an avenue of homoerotica but I was a bit taken aback with how he just agreed with everything I said even though I contradicted myself, and so I climaxed a bit early, so to speak.
