Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi
i'm trying to book a flight over to london leaving friday 19th in the morning and coming back the next day, saturday 20th sometime in the afternoon.
the cheapest flights i can find are E56 with ryanair. (incl tax)
although this isnt too bad, i remember that the prices were cheaper when i checked them about a month ago. (obviously!)
i dont think anywhere will do cheaper flights than this, but my question is, if i leave it till about a day or so before the travel dates, will the ryanair prices fall? (due to ryanair wanting to fill seats on every plane?)
or else, is there anywhere good that i can get a dirt cheap flight if i book it about a day before travelling?

    cheers,

E51 for a return flight to London leaving on a Friday is bloody cheap in my book. In my experience, almost every airlines price will increase the closer you book the flight

Nope, the flights will be more expensive. I think they have it figured out that if you book with less than a couple of days to go then you need the flight for some particular reason and they use that to raise the price.

I would definately say go with the 56 euro flight. The flights may get cheaper but the lowest you will end up paying even if they do go cheaper is about 30-40 euro.

Is it worth the hassle to save 20 quid?

Which airport are you flying to however? It is the most expensive to get into London from Stansted. It will set you back about an extra E25.

yeah, it was standsted. but i think the price has gone up further to 66yoyos now, so im definately not going to bother with it now!
is it really that much extra to get into the city from stansdted?
i assumed you could just get a train etc for a decent price.

For what it's worth 'cheap' and 'last-minute' fares never go together.

As you've already discovered the closer you are to departure date the higher the fare.... always.

The fares go up because a) The flights are fuller (the fuller the flight, the more expensive the tickets, it's like an auction) and b) the airlines know that if you're booking last-minute, usually you will pay whatever.
