    If you liked 1984 you might like Animal Farm.
    Its a little simplistic in that it is really a one "message" book but its certainly a book anyone who wants to discuss politics should read first.

    The rest of Orwell's stuff is a bit grim, I've read a good bit by him (Keep the Apidistra Flying etc) and most of it is ungodly boring. Occasionally great, but mostly grim.

    He really believed in his politics and was highly active in the spanish civil war, so much so that he went to fight in it (nutter!)

    been waiting for this one to turn up, tis a gem of a book, got it about 6 or 7 years ago, loved it then still love it now.
