Help with Linksys WRT54G router

    Hi,

I have Eircom BB with their Netipia USB/Ethernt modem. I also have a Lnksys WRT54G router, for six months or so.
A while ago I downloaded the latest firmaware for the the router, and everything was fine, but around the same
time I found that the range that I was getting from the wireless was much lower than it seemed to have been
when I started. This may be coinicidence, but I thought it could have been due to the new firmware. Annoying,
but not a prob as I usually used the wirelaess laptp near the router.

Then I got a new desktop PC, and wanted to move it ainto my attic along with the router and use the laptop
downstairs, but the range wouldn't reach. I did a hard reset on the router, to see if I could go back to the s
hipped firmware. Since then the router has not worked at all. When the PC is connected it seems to be connected,
and tests okay, using the XP "repair connection" but it cannot actually connect to anything.

When I connect it to the router, vey briefly the network connection icon shows a message that says something like
"this connection has limited connection to the internet ...." It's quite a long message, but it doesn't show
for long wnough to read the whole thing, and I can't get it to reappear - one it's appeared the connection seems
okay, but it fials to connect to a website - "not found" even using an IP address directly just times out.

Can anyone tel what I;ve done wrong? I've reinstalled the latest firmware for router again to no avail. When I
conenct directly to the BB modem eveything's fine but obviosuly I need the router working again to get both PC
laptop working. The wireless connection bhaves the same too - says it's connected but fails to contact anything.

Sounds like you firewalled the ethernet port as well as (or maybe not) the wide area port (out to the world) . Therefore you cannot manage it from inside running a web browser .

Have you tried to install the Satori OS on it ?
