Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anybody suggest a good graphic novel to read? Any genre is fine.

If you can get a copy of it "The Dark Knight Returns" is an excellent gn. One of the best I've read.

I haven't seen it for a number of years but if you can get a hold of "Third World War" from the british comic Crises you should read it. And judging by the topics you choose to post in you'll find it v. interesting. (It's about globalisation).

The Books of Magic are good, The Sandmand is also good and there's loads of them.

All of the above, plus Watchmen. Also, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, V For Vendetta, Cerebus, Stray Bullets...aarggh, too many to list...

Who is The Beefy King ?

Owing to an administrative error, the Pope had been replaced by Lemmy from Moterhead...

I also liked Alex Ross' Kingdom Come. Also got his Marvels but didn't like it as much.

    Other favourites:

    Superman / Speeding Bullets
    Superman / Return of Superman
    Preacher Collection
    Sandman Collection

And of course in the manga line:

    Akira
    Battle Angel Alita

    V for Vendetta.

Do your brain a favour and get it. Awesome.
A graphic novel with a hard politcal edge without preaching.

100 Bullets is well recommended (interesting crime stories with unique angle) as is animal man.

DC Comics Vertigo series are generally good. The Books of Magic are always a good read. Witchcraft is excellent although short.

Been reading Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Lets just says Alan Moore owns ALL the p4nts.

Even the (usually crummy) readers letters are a laugh!

    Didn't spot this before.

Anyway, Dark Knight Returns is quality. Actually, if you've seen any of the Batman Beyond or Batman of the Future cartoons, there's one bit that ties them together - read it and ask me again smile.gif

Also, by the same guy (Frank Miller), there's some Sin City stuff - black N White (the ones I read), but extremely well done.

    All the best!

When the Beefy King arrives, I shall be paying homage with Puunack The Receiver in a haze of green curry.

Excellent stuff that - a good annotations page is http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/7160/league1.html. The amount of detail that went into it is amazing.

Draco that link no worky good.

Yes, the detail is incredible but then I guess I'd expect that from Moore. Still, its an amazing series. Tight, very characterful and something totally new and refreshing.
Made me think of Cthulhu by Gaslight...

100 bullets has a great story line and my kind of art, and if u havnt been reading up til now, theyve recently done issue 26 which will bring up to date so far.

Also Dark Minds is good, but u had to be reading from the start.

And for a laugh, keep ur eyes peeled for "Too Much Coffee Man", i've only got one issue myself but its funny stuff....

Is book three of the re-releases out now? I've been looking for it in Forbidden Planet but can't find it.
