    Dear user of eircom.net,

Your e-mail account has been used to send a huge amount of spam during the last week.
Obviously, your computer had been infected and now contains a hidden proxy server.

We recommend that you follow our instruction in order to keep your computer safe.

    Virtually yours,
    eircom.net user support team.

    Attachments

Warning: Attachments may contain viruses that can damage your computer. If you are unsure about an attachment please do not open it. Eircom net assumes no responsibility for the damage done by the contents of any email attachment

I got this today and am unsure what to do about it. THere is a file attached to the mail but i left it as is. Conincidentally my computer has been fubar and not turned on for the last week, maybe 5 days.

Has anyone else recieved something like this?

It's a virus/spam from someone elses system, delete it and clean your system with an updated virus profile as a precaution.

Eircom don't have the capability (corporate culture) to respond with "Virtually yours!"

    :-)

    www.dnsstuff.com says it's eircom.

    And yes, it's a virus.
Eircom never sends out anything like that.
