Eircom bb and email problem

hi all just wondering if anybody has come accross this have just setup eircom broadband for someone but when i try setup their mail which is an eircom email address it runs into all sorts of errors trying to connect to the server.. Now the mail settings appear correct and the connection is working fine any ideas? it talks…

it talks alot about SSL errors now i have seen that before with an eircom email address and iol bb but im at a loss this time to explain why its happening with an eircom email address and an eircom broadband account..
Their is also a wirless peer to peer netowrk in place but the router isn't wireless...
so anyone care to take a guess?
