B&Q vs. Local Hardware store

I'm going to help a friend add a bathroom to his house. The room is already there. It's a big utility room which we will split in half. Half for the bathroom and the other half for the washing machine and dryer. The biggest cost will probably be the plumber and the electrician so he's trying to save on everything else.

Is B&Q any good for supplies or is your local hardware store just as good or even better?

Just need to get doors, door frames, bathroom suite, tiles, mirrors and fittings.... Nothing too fancy.
