Last game was Feel The Magic:XX/YY (a stalk-em-up by Sonic Team). This is a bit like Wario Ware on the GBA, but the aim of the game is to stalk a girl that you fell in love with at first sight.
And here is the girl in question

    Very nice!

Their aren't many good games for the American DS launch (12 and that's just all the games). I'm getting XY:XX. But, if you take a look at the Japanese lauch games (there's about twice as many) they've got loads of excellent games. Wario Ware DS for example (I'm getting it).

My DS should arrive by friday, along with Mario 64X4

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

I'm not too pushed either. The only games I'm interested in are Super Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic XX/XY, yet since the Mario game is once again an updated port, I'm not too impressed. I don't think these two games alone would persuade me to purchase a DS. I'll have see the machine in person, aswell as see what future titles are planned for the system in order to make a decision. For now, I'm thinking of shelling out on a cheap SP instead.

Oh, I like her. But then again I need to get out more.

I'd have a DS if I didn't owe my parents so much money :(

does anyone know if it can use the connectivity of the gba-cube like for metroid fusion or mario golf or whatever?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

If your talking about with the current GBA games, no afaik, its all wireless so theres no port. So you can't play multiplayer on GBA games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,889 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

damnit! i want the fusion suit in prime!!!!! :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Heh heh, got that myself the other day.

    Rar!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Nope, it can't unfortunately. Just GBA games.

Well, and DS games of course.

Well.. I just got an email saying mine shipped... I should have it (well 2 of them actually) in 2 - 3 days.

I only ordered this a month ago, so I'd say most people who preordered will have no problems.

I've order Mario 64 as I missed it the first time around (The Dreamcast was my first foray into the world of consoles I'm afraid to say)

I was a bit disappointed with the launch line up. But there seem to be a bulk of good titles coming out in January.

And I may get XX:YY too now.. that girl has convinced me... although she doesn't have a mouth... I wonder if she is missing any other important orifices?

The Fusion varia suit is possibly the ugliest suit in any Metroid game. You're not missing anything!

    1. Why are you getting two and from where did you preorder? Also what kind of delivery service? e.g. UPS, Airmail, etc.

    2. Okay, for official reasons and numerous misspellings it's called XY:XX not XX:YY, not XX:XY or any other rubbish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,889 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

who gives two shats you know what they mean by YX:XX or whatever.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭Bass.exe

    Well, XY:XX would mean Male:Female.
XX:YY would mean Female:"Genetic Mutation resulting in Miscarriage".

    No X chromosone, no survival.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,889 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

im well aware what it would mean im just saying theres no need to get your boxers in a twist over it. people understand what is meant. its only a misteak. :D

Wow, thats pretty decent of them.
They probably learned after Apple's iPod battery fiasco.

I can't really see Sony doing anything similar.

Did you look at the charger nad check its voltage rating (ie 110 only or 110-220)?
Never noticed. Will check and post later.
Have you noticed its hard to see both screens at the same time without opeing the unit up fully?
Why would you not open it fully?
BTW you can chose which screen to ply GBA games on in the menu.
    Yep, spotted that.
Do you get the thumb strap(-on ) thing with the ds as well so you dont have to use the stylus?
Yep, you do. I think its pretty awful. I can't figure out a comfortable way of using it, to be honest. When I heard about the thumbstrap, I thought it would be a thumbpad with 4 elasticated straps (one to each corner) which would give nice feedback and may be usable. But a plastic thingy at the end of a regular strap? Pretty annoying. Maybe I'll get used to it.

Nope, the manual pretty much states as much. However, if you get a flash cart and use goomba (google for it... its a GB/GBC emulator for the GBA), then you can.

For someone with no experience of importing can anyone give a quick list of essential information?
Somebody already said it will work with European games so thats ok. How about plugging it in to charge it? Will you need a special adaptor or something since it's American?
And who's the best retailers to buy from?
Is there any other information to be aware of?

    Thanks :)

One is a christmas present for my nephew... ssssh... it's supposed to be a surprise...

I used importmadness.com and it is being shipped via FedEx... 2-3 day shipping.
    2. Okay, for official reasons and numerous misspellings it's called XY:XX not XX:YY, not XX:XY or any other rubbish.
You are correct. But I did only hear about the game today, while I was hammering out the post I checked back on an earlier post in this thread, which I guess was also incorrect...
