dc scart question

I have recently finally managed to get a SCART cable
for my DC which works, however I am unable to get
stereo sound to output from it (at least not to the tv
    - i havent tried connecting the phono-jacks to an amp
for a good reason - i dont have one). Even when i
stick the red and white jacks in the back of the TV,
the only options my TV seems to pick up are 'Mono' or
'Spatial' (which I presume is merely a weird panning
type thing of Mono, because when I put my PS2 in thru
the SCART i clearly get 'Stereo' as an option).

Any help would be much appreciated as I really love
the Dreamcast, but I want the sound to be good,
especially now since the pictures so crisp with the
SCART (the difference in Soul Calibur was
unbelievable, I can see now why some people say the DC
is almost as good as a PS2 graphically (to a certain
    extent now)'

silly wuestion perhaps..you sure the game supports stereo?? if the DC isn't sending stereo, then the tv wont get it.

I think the video out on my DC is somehow broken. I turned it on one day to be greeted with a black screen, bought a new SCART and the same thing happened. :/ Composite cable works fine though. Not the TV as other consoles work via the scart sockets.
