    Barry Redsetta

Better known as one half of the Redsettaz with Dave, Barry Redsettaz has been DJing for the past seven years. He cut his teeth in noted indie club Psychedeila in Galway many moons ago, thankfully, he soon left this behind and moved to Dublin, where he began playing in and around UCD. He hooked up with Dave here in 1997 and formed Redsettaz. Barry is A&R rep for Sony Records and works for the daily star as a sub editor. He also has an acclaimed Friday night house music show on Spin 103.8. After making the move from college gigs to club gigs with promoters Munki, they accepted a residency in the now-defunct Funnel club and began building up a following thanks to their mix of breaks and beats. Gigs played around the time included a tour with the Scratch Perverts, shows with Danmass, Bushwacka! Freq Nasty, Shut Up And Dance and Andy Smith. Venues include Dublin’s Mean Fiddler (now Mono), Funnel, Columbia Mills, IFC, Galway’s GPO and Liquid.

In 1999, they were approached by the Influx group and asked to come on board. They played their first Influx show on New Year’s Eve 1999 to a packed Columbia Mills and were soon offered a residency at Influx’s long-running Thursday night in the Kitchen. They became full-time Influx residents, playing at Dublin’s clubs like the Tivoli, Kitchen, RiRa, Redbox, TBMC, Pod, Choclate Bar, Switch, IFC, Mono, the Point Depot, Fireworks, Vicar Street, the Shelter and Modern Green Bar.

Barry now holds a monthly residency at Shiver in Dublin’s Metropolitian plus numerous other one-offs around the capital. Outside of Dublin, there are bi-monthly residencies at 091 in the GPO in Galway and the Forum in Waterford. They’ve played in numerous venues including the above two, Cork’s Henry’s and MAAS, Tralee’s Transmission, Belfast’s Shine, Galway’s Cuba, Waterford’s South, and The Stables in Mullingar. He’s also played on the Influx/POD stages at Homelands in 1999 and 2000 and Witnness 2001 and 2002. Abroad, he’s played in London, Belgium and Barcelona.
