Blind Dog

My cocker spaniel is 6 1/2 years old and we recently found out that she has hereditary blindness. She has been getting progressively worse for the last 6 months and will eventually lose her sight entirely. There is nothing the vets can do.
The same vet told us that she'll be clingy and a bit freaked out for awhile (explains her behavious up to now) but will eventually relax.
Does anyone else have a blind dog? What have your experiences been? Any tips you can give?
Its more distressing for us than her and now we don't get so annoyed when she's ALWAYS under our feet.
