Homelands Ireland: The answer

16-04-2000 11:54amThis is not a spam:
Here's the info. you wanted Dev. I'm afraid I'm not going 'cause I'm sick - otherwise I'd be there at the front. If you saw the documentary around Paddy's Day the first one was brilliant.
Anyway, here we go:
Over six stages pumped for over 14 hours continuously, with an almost
hysterical reaction from those that watched, and those that performed. Life
altering sets from Underworld, and Orbital, as well as crowd winning sets
from some of Ireland's leading club DJs ( Johnny Moy, Col. Hamilton, Mr
Spring, Billy Scurry and Bass Odyssey ) ensured that homelands Ireland was
here to stay.
Homelands Ireland will once again take place at Mosney Holiday Centre, Co
Meath on Saturday 29th April (Mayday Bank Holiday Weekend) with headline
performances from Leftfield, Ian Brown, Primal Scream, Paul Oakenfold, Carl
Cox, Darren Emerson, Judge Jules, and many more to be announced. One of the
striking features of last years sell out event, was the forceful presence of
the Irish acts and DJ¹s. This is reflected this year with the addition of an
Irish only arena, the homegrown arena. It will feature, some of the nations
favourite club residents DJ¹s. This year sees the seven stage arena¹s lining
up as follows.
home Arena - The question was asked last year Œ how can they top that¹¹?
With (tent) roof raising live performances from Underworld & Orbital, and
exuberant DJ sets from Paul Oakenfold, and Liam Prodigy,, many thought that
could not be beaten. This years home arena line up quite simply answers that
question. This will be Leftfield¹s FIRST LIVE SHOW anywhere in the world, in
over 4 years! Leftfield followed up the much acclaimed ŒLeftism with the
equally impressive ŒRhythm & Stealth. Œ 'Leftism' was an album that redrew
the borders for dance music, pioneered a radical hybrid of dub and house and
breaks (long before anyone had invented big beat), and threw together guest
vocalists from other musical worlds (gothic torch singer Toni Halliday,
reggae toaster Earl Sixteen) over rhythms borrowed from dub, reggae, and
African music. It sold more than half a million copies in the UK alone. More
than just a great dance album, it was a defining moment, a Pink Floyd for
the 90s, the Dark Side Of The Disco. Now, four years later and three long
years in the making, it's time for the new album, 'Rhythm And Stealth': the
sequel. Also on the bill are perennial survivors o the dance scene Ian
Brown, and Scottish legends Primal Scream. The new album from Primal Scream,
EXTERMINATOR has already been touted as ŒAlbum Of The Year¹, it is released
on 31st Jan 2000. The last two years have been very busy for the ex-Stone
Roses man Ian Brown. As much a legend in indie as well as acid house
circles, Ian Brown has always been on a mission to unite music and Œlift
everybody up¹. Leftfield / Primal Scream / Ian Brown / Paul Oakenfold /

Lush / 2FM Arena - Without doubt, one of the most successful arenas and
partnerships of last years event, this year makes a welcome return, with an
even stronger bill. Last year¹s success has been down to the extraordinary
work, of Lush promoter Colin Hamilton, not only last year, but in the
preceding years, for building up his clubs intense loyal following, most of
whom made the trek to Mosney, and are expected to do so again this year, in
even greater numbers. By 3pm at last years event, this arena was jam
packed, and remained so, until the small hours of the morning, and looks set
to do so once more with a line up that includes... Judge Jules / Jeremy
Healy / Boy George / Scott Bond / Nick Warren / Nick Warren
Colin. Hamilton / Jon Cecchini / Robbie Nelson / Mr. Spring / Steve Lawlor
Rico .
Shine / BBM Magazine Arena - This legendary Belfast club night Shine
alongside Irelands premier dance magazine BBM, joins the ever expanding
homelands family. Running once a week @ Queens university this night has
seen seminal club sets from the likes of Sneak; MrC : Darren Emerson;
Richie Hawtin; Slam; Justin Robertson; The Problem Kids; Weatherall; Coxy;
Stacey Pullen; Cajmere; Yousef; Circulation and many, many more : their
sound clearly straddles the techno/house divide. BBM has been in existence
for more then 4 years now, and has lead the way in informing irelands,
sussed clubbers, north and south of their dance knowledge. Their homelands
debut looks set to rock with serious style, with a line up so far that looks
like this... Richie Hawtin / Freelance Science Live / Mr C. / Justin
Robertson / Dj Dan / The Problem Kids Alan Simms / Simon McDermott / Gery
Dillon / Alan Bates / David Campbell.
MTV¹s Dance Floor Chart show Presents ... Influx / Redbox Arena - What an
alliance, two of Ireland's leading club night promoters, and the country¹s
most popular dance show. Add to that a premier line up of Ireland and the
UK¹s leading techno and beats artists, and we have a match made in heaven.
Carl Cox Darren Emerson / Billy Nasty / Paul Hartnoll / Warren Kiernan /
Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas) / Johnny Moy / Billy Scurry / Francois /
Glen Brady / RedSettaz
The End Arena - London¹s award winning club The End continue their Homelands
dance festival tradition of hosting an arena once more at Homelands. Having
recently installed a brand new custom built Thunder Ridge Sound System and
their monthly long-running tech-house and breaks residency Subterrain
picking up the Best Underground Club Award at last year¹s Ericsson Muzik
Awards it¹s little wonder that they¹re back to rock the party. Drum & Bass
has been one area of rapid growth among Irish dance fans over the last four
years and testament to this was the full dancefloor all day at last years
event, with stand out performances from Roni Size, Hybrid and our own DJ
Razor. This years sees most of those returning, with some excellent
additions to come. Watch this space. : Hype / Andy C /Ed Rush & Optical /

Sir Henry¹s Arena -> SWEAT @ SIR HENRYS -Twelve years on, Sweat is still
the original and the best. For six hundred or so Saturday nights in a row,
main room residents Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson have been spreading the
faith of funky, soulful dance music to the clubbers of Cork, regular
visitors from Waterford, Dublin, Limerick, Galway and all points in between.
Always ploughing its own furrow, the Sweat menu has managed to encompass
everything from Kerri Chandler to Basic Channel in a city renowned for its
love of black music. Stevie G¹s six-year stint in Sir Henry¹s Back Bar is an
integral part of the Sweat experience. His pioneering blend of hip-hop and
r¹n¹b has helped cement the club¹s reputation for quality music. Our plan
for Homelands is to tell the real story of underground house with such acts
as
Erik Rug / Herbert / Joe Claussel Kerri Chandler / Greg Dowling / Tony
Humphries / Shane Johnson / Stevie G
Homegrown Arena : One of the striking features of last years sell out event,
was the forceful presence of the Irish acts and DJ¹s. This is reflected this
year with the addition of an Irish only arena, the homegrown arena. It will
feature, some of the nations favourite club residents DJ¹s.
From the turnout of DJ¹s at last years event, it was quite evident how
highly they hold this festival in their busy calendar. homelands ireland is
now an all ireland representation of what is hot and current in dance music
in ireland. Decal are without doubt one of ireland most revered and
thankfully one of Ireland¹s most successful live techno / beat acts. Coming
from the Ultramack stable of fine talent, they are a welcome addition to
any festival bill. Transmissions @ Horan¹s in Tralee is Kerry¹s longest
running club night ( 8 years) and it is fitting that its main resident and
promoter has been asked to join the line up at homelands ireland. Take a bow
Paudie Cronin. Galway city has always held an affectionate feeling in the
hearts of clubbers from all over the country. It is right that a weekends
clubbing away from the big smoke, has meant an essential trip to Galway.
Enter Disconauts, sometime DJ duo, more often than not a stunning live five
piece, who expone all that is quality, in house music.Beats Œn¹ Breaks are
brought to you in the form of nu-skool maestro¹s Skunk Œn¹ Dvus, who will
crank up the sub-bass and blow those ear drums with their dark and dangerous
sounds, while you should expect a more subtle blend of soulful beats with a
party sound in the form of Sunday POD resident, Noel Phelan. Taking it up a
notch or two will be pod regulars Tom Cole, Robbie Butler & Davy Kaye. Phil
Kiernan, is a regular on the Dublin Techno scene although he comes from
north of the border, this will be one of his many regular visits down south,
as one of N.Ireland¹s most promising live techno acts. Decal (live) / Phil
Kieran (live) / Disconauts (live) / Noel Phelan / Paudie Cronin / Tom Cole /
Tony Watters / Robbie Butler / Adrian Dunlea / Skunk n¹Dvus
Bacardi B-Bar : At the Bacardi B-Bar this year Ross Allen, the UKs finest
Latin House DJ will be firing up an authentic Cuban party atmosphere, along
with Anna Livias Claire Moloney and Soulsonics Stuart Patterson. Youll
recognise the B Bar by the original 1950s Buick parked outside. Ross Allen /

Mean Fiddler boss, Vince Power, who is co promoting the event once more,
with home and pod is obviously looking forward to the event : "We at the
Mean Fiddler are really pleased to be doing Homelands in Ireland again. We
had a great response from people last year and there were few problems,
which is very positive. This year the line up is looking even better and
the sun is definitely going to shine"
John Reynolds, of POD & home, was equally pleased : " we are delighted that
after so many years, homelands ireland finally came off last year. The
Response from artists, clubbers and the authorities has been overwhelmingly
positive and we look forward to this year"
Some of those who were involved in last years event, were flowing with their
enthusiasm :
John Digweed : "The best gig i did last year, without doubt"
Pete Tong : " The atmosphere was on a par with the best clubs in Ibiza,
truly outstanding¹
Supt. Dogget : thoroughly happy with the way the event was handled last
year, I'd have no hesitation in welcoming another event this year."

Woah. Thanks for the info.
I have to say I'd jump faster at Orbital, Underworld etc from last year but that line up seems pretty good all the same!
Hmmm, I'm just not a festival kinda guy. I prefer one off gigs I guess (like Orbital last December in the point. wow!)
