Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will this Setup Work

Im going supplying broadband to my local vilage which is a mile away from my house. My house will be the base station equiped with a Smartbridge XO access point. There is a mast in the village that I have a great LOS to. I am planning on setting up an affordable Access point with a Point to Point setup between that and the Smartbridge at base station (my house). This will the the satellite internet backbone that I will have at my house. What access point would be good to be able to 'repeat' the signal from the smartbridge to the village or to other repeaters. So basically i will need a access point that has an interface for an external directional antenna to base station and another interface for an omni directional one to cover the village. I will set up a couple of repeating Access points in the village to get across all. Most standard access points can do 300 meters indoor range right?, so am i correct in saying, that if a house was within 300 metres of these repeaters, that they will be able to get a signal inside their house without actually using external out door antennas. I want to keep the setup for the customers as simple as possible. Also, seeing that the access point is going to be up say 30 feet, does this matter, that the CPE will be under this altitude?. Do they have the be within some angle horizontally to be able to get a signal. I hope you understand what i'm saying here.

If this solution wouldn't work, im thinking of setting the Smartbridge on a mountain range so that all houses's will have a LOS to the Smartbridge. The smartbridge xo will use a 120 degree Sector antenna. Each house will then have a directional antenna facing this. I would like to keep this solution as the last thing to do as its teadious (i don't know how to spell that word) to set up and is also expensive. If i had to do this, what CPE equipment would you recommend?

I hope i've made myself clear here!

    Cheers.

Using high powered access points would be a good idea for better range. You could try indoor ap's, protected by a waterproof case and attach a outdoor antenna to each access point. An EnGenius EL-3054CB3 would be your best option imo. Put a directional on each and an omni on the mast. This particular access point can also repeat the signal. Use outdoor equipment if you have the money for them, they include alignment tools for your antenna. Good luck.
