Because I'm one of the people fed up coming into threads to find you've destroyed it with the same ****e yet again so i'm sure i'm not alone! Why won't you start a new economics thread to post your thoughts and theories?

why should i have to, this is a public forum? as always, if you truly are fed up with a posters posts, just block them, this is okay, you ll be fine. again, my opinions are actually backed by a lot of data and research into these matters

Would the fact that myself and others have asked you numerous times to stop continously dragging threads down an economic theory rabbit hole. The fact that the Mods have warned you more than once to set up a separate thread to discuss your favourite subject not ring a few alarm bells?

I have no problem with your theories, I'm sure they are well researched and thought out. But I don't want to see 10 posts of them every time I check a thread!!

Create a separate thread! (You won't now out of complete pigheadness!! :D)

I'm guilty now myself of dragging the thread off topic so I'll leave the Mods sort it out.

again, this isnt exactly theory, its actually backed up by facts and data

one could deem this online bullying at this stage

The simple fact is that most people would like to discuss the north quays project on this thread hence it’s title, the various stages of the project especially now since it is nearing the most visible stage i.e construction.....discussions about the broader macro economic theories/models etc belong in a separate thread.

again, disagree strongly, as explained, badly of course

    That is low.

You're the bloke doing people's heads in and you wonder why they are getting wound up with you ? And the mods have even asked you to make a new thread and you chose to challenge and then ignore them, dunno how you get away with it TBH.

And one could argue that despite being told time and time again to stop detailing threads, and despite you thinking your aren’t, you are still doing it. We have been very lenient with you up to now, but another mod has already asked you to stop and you have continued again, so you’ve left us with no choice now but to issue you with a 1 week ban. I’ve no interest in back and forth PM’s either, if you aren’t happy with the ban, then take it to someone higher than us mods.

Put him on ignore, life is so much more peaceful since i blocked that boring monologue. The problem is there are too many stupid and unconscious posters who fall for his very amateur trolling. It takes two to tango and as long as idiots bite, he wont lose interest.

So we have one week to discuss the lack of progress which is due to surprise surprise COVID 19 restrictions.......has anyone heard anything from the ‘Cass’ dude lately.....he used to drop a few lines to this thread every now and then an up date from him would be useful...even the council could give us a couple of lines but there is eff all on either their web site, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram etc....for all we know the €100m could be withdrawn yet

His new passion is the vaccination process and the reopening of the economy, he is still very much active on twitter on those topics, but very little about the NQ unfortunately.

I’m not a ‘tweeter’.....maybe I should open an account. Can you direct questions to someone on Twitter...?

You sure can ,he is on a major rant about people skipping the queue for vaccination at the moment but I'd say he would answer you on North Quays.

Was about to put Wanderer78 on mute (again!) only to see that he has been dealt with.

He has been told time and time, and time, and time again that he needs to stop and yet keeps going!

Cries bullying then when people say it to him (politely in vast majority of cases!).

Soundings not too promising judging by the News and Star and the non-committal comments from the Falcon rep on twitter.

common behavior from a free market libertarian, wouldnt be worrying too much about it, you still have to hand it to him though about this project, its an incredible achievement and vision

it’s only an achievement if it actually goes ahead, currently it’s just pie in the sky and until we see cranes on the site, then we can believe.

i disagree there to a point, id imagine an astonishing amount of work has gone on behind the scenes by people such as cass, to get it to where it is now, it would not be easy to get all stakeholders involved, to be involved. yes it is just a pie in the sky until people start seeing cranes there, but this is an astonishing vision for the region, we ve never experienced anything like it, theres astonishing potential there, we just need to make sure all the t's and i's are.....

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,034 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

Yeah I agree it’s an incredible vision and huge credit to all involved for getting it this far, but what good is it if it doesn’t become a reality.

it would be disappointing if it doesnt come to be, but i think theres actually still a very good chance of it happening, some conditions are actually ideal for it, and some really not so, so lets wait and see. we do need major vision going forward, our region needs this, we need something to latch onto, post covid, and this is a perfect project for it. it has the potential to drag us into the big league, but also the potential to bring big league problems to, but i do think these issues are manageable and rectifiable, i also believe in ourselves to be able to do all of this work, particularly in our young, they can do it.

even if it doesnt come to be, i think we should take positives from it, we re starting to think very differently, we re starting to see our future very differently. waterford wasnt a particularly amazing place not too long ago, many of us grew up in the 80/90's, but look at it now, and look at the vision of this project

Well it seems like it's time for the developers to finally walk the walk. Everything they have requested to date to facilitate the development by the council and the government has been committed. If they are not ready to put their money where their mouth is then it is time to bring someone else in.

I've always been convinced by Rob Cass's and the developers bona fides in wanting to provide a development beneficial to Waterford and the region, as well as to obviously make a profit. There is nothing wrong with profit. It's what makes things happen. However it seems from an outsiders perspective that they want all risk removed before committing. That's not realistic.

If they do drop out, at least the infrastructure, bridge and greenway extension will proceed and the site will be ripe for someone else to take it on.

Time for Falcon to step up. The time for promises is over.

The minute I saw John Cummins taking/getting credit for this pipe dream I knew it was doomed.

This crowd have their reason for pulling out of this thing now and it’s an incredibly valid one. I can’t see this happening at all and it’s a shame because Waterford and the south east as a whole badly, badly needs it.

I genuinely expect that funding to be withdrawn if NQP is abandoned.

That would be a nightmare alright. I thought that it was to facilitate development of the north quays regardless. The new bridge would link the New Ross greenway with the extended Waterford greenway up along the Quay. The site would be very valuable designated as an SDZ with full planning. I suppose the way the governmnet finances are now it would be a handy excuse not to provide it.

Let hope it doesn't come to that. The developers gave an upbeat assessment about the project in terms of commercialisation/letting of the space only a month ago. I'm certainly at the stage now of loosing confidence in their promises without anything to back it up. It seems like Michael Walsh and the council are frustrated (pi**ed off) too.

With the s**t show re the 'university' this could be an awful month for Waterford.
