    Agreed.
It's always either shìte music, or some boring discussion about something boring.
Or if you live in Dublin, you can listen to low-lives call eachother scumbags on the Adr1an Kennedy ph0ne show.
    Whoop-tee-doo.
And you can't even listen to any station without some other cràppy fuzzy station butting-in behind it.

I reckon the radio is quite good up here, as opposed to in Cork say. There's plenty of radio stations to listen to, good choice of music. if what's on isn't to your taste - tune to a different station.

the only problem is that there is a lot of interference from the other stations.

Radio in general I think is pants. However, radio in Dublin is better than Radio in Mayo where you get the fantastic MWRFM.
Anyone from Mayo will tell you how Spud Muncher/Aul Woman orientated it is. Let's just say, it was bad. To make matters worse, my Mum had a program on it (my mammy's famous in Mayo tongue.gif) and at the same time I had a show on a priate station in Castlebar smile.gif T'was slightly amusing comparing our CD collections.

That aside, general radio is pants and always will be cause it plays what's popular and not what's good. Specialist radio is OK, but there isn't enough of it.

    All the best,

ShoutCast internet radio stations are good for specialist style stuff. SubSpace is one of the biggest ones in this part of the world - www.gamersfm.com/subspace - it's still in its infancy, but there's a good selection of specialist shows on it, from various varieties of dancey musak, to metal/rock shows. It's fun interacting with the audience on IRC live as well - gives the whole thing a community aspect you just don't get on normal radio.

How can we possibly continue a thread about how crap radio is these days if we do not mention 2FM? 'Wes Darcy in the afternoon'? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Not to mention the fact that the only music played on 2FM is all the same! They must play like 12 differnet songs in the space of a day. I just listen to local radio these days wink.gif

So the pope puts down the Badger and leans over to me and says , 'At TFC my son , I 0wnz j00'. Before I could speak in walks Dustin Hoffman in a giant Silk Worm costume and just then...it started to get weird...

yeah but radio can be a really good medium.
it requires far more thinking and intelligence to make a good radio show than it does to make a show on tv.
Scrap Saturday was better than any tv alternative at the time for example (and there still hasn't been a funnier irish made tv show)...

Hmmph, they must have removed the ban then.
