Have a listen to the organ intro to track 1 side 1 of Antics by Interpol. I swear it's a hair's breadth away from breaking into The Walk of Life by Dire Straights.

    Do-doo, do-do-do-do-do-dooo-do!

Agreed. In fact I'd been thinking that for a long time.I'm still trying to figure out where they stole the bass riff on "evil" from. Its a little too familiar also

Wouldn't want to mix those two up...

The start of "Next Exit" is very much like whatever the name of the first track on the Walkmen album is. But I could never mistake it for "Walk Of Life". Probably just becauce I've heard Walk Of Life so many many times...

Oops! I would refund the -rep I launched in your direction, but it appears I have to "spread it around" first.

    D'oh!

the walkmen are pretty good.Voice kinda sounds like Interpol and are grounded in the same emo brand of rock.
but if its the first track from the "bows and arrows" album ie "Whats in it for me?", I cant say I see any similiarities with "next exit" well not as vividly as with "walk of life" anyway.I assume thats the album you were talking about anyway as "They're winning" from "everyone who pretended to be like me is gone" starts off with a tremelo guitar sound.
They have quite a few christmas themed tunes on the latest album. They also have a free download christmas single available here

    Interpol are The Strokes Division.

And The Walkmen are pretty good. I enjoyed Bows + Arrows, it's nothing spectacular though.

I agree - the singer always sounds like hes preaching at you... The music is average at best.
Em Im talking about Interpol btw... /confusion

Interpol are pretty good and I certinaly wouldnt call them emo their new album antics may not be as good as the excelent Turn on the brigh lights buts it still pretty good and altough they plough the same post punk line as many before them they do it far better then most of the other recent post punk recreationists.
I can see the Joy Divison comparison but not the strokes one

The walkmen are decent but not great a bit of a letdown after all the praise I heard of them before I got their albums

    Pretty much.

When we're on the subject of songs sounding the same... The Killers - Mr. Brightside and Placebo - Special K... The same song?

There's a tiny bit of Bauhaus if you listen closely enough.

Yes, yerman from Interpol does an uncanny Ian Curtis impression. Musically I don't think they're that similar to Joy Division though.

And 'Say Hello to the Angels' IS The Smiths.

I have the new Interpol album and have to say it is quite good. I definitely would not call it emo or even drop it in that classification. There are Joy Division similarities there all right I thought.

    Well spotted

To be honest, I think the singer sounds identical to David Bowie.

And Mr. Brightside / Special K? I don't think they're similar at all!

Who the guy from Bauhaus sounds identical to. The circle is complete.

There's a bit of both songs that sounds fairly similar...
