LONDON, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Former Beatle Paul McCartney is set to become pop's first sterling billionaire after seeing his personal wealth jump by 175 million pounds in the past year, according to a British newspaper.

McCartney now has a fortune of 725 million pounds, making him already the world's first dollar billionaire pop performer with $1.07 billion, The Sunday Times said.

He is expected to become a sterling billionaire next year after huge sales from a compilation album of Beatles hits.

His fortune was also swelled this year by an inheritance of 150 million pounds ($252 million) from the estate of his late wife Linda.

... I'd have thought Michael Jackson would have already hit that target ...

Especially when M.J. picks up the royalties from the Beatles stuff, which also makes Paul McCartneys feat more impressive.
