... Des Crofton (of NARGC fame), please pass along my congratulations to him on a job well done on the RTE Radio 1 show, Winter Food, last night (5th November 2005).
I'd never heard of this show, but happened to have the radio on last night when it came on. The presenter (Clodagh McKenna) said that this week's theme was Irish Game, and that Des was one of her guests. The other guest was Ross Lewis, who apparently owns a fancy restaurant in Dublin.

It was most refreshing to hear hunting and shooting being discussed in utterly un-sentimental terms, without even a hint of tree-huggery creeping in. Game of all sorts- hare, pheasant, duck, woodcock, deer, etc, etc, were all mentioned, but only on their relative merits on the table and their various methods of preparation.

Des did a great job explaining the firearms licencing system, and covered things like deer permits, open and closed seasons, Game Clubs and voluntary bag limits, etc, very well too.

Well done Des, excellent P.R. job!
