Is Eircom's DSL "Trigger" a Con ?

Hi. I recently went to dsl.eircom.net to register my interest in getting broadband for my home town., Graignamanagh, Co Kilkenny. I noted that the trigger number for Graignamanagh is 309, that only account holders can vote and you can only vote online. At a rough guess, i would say that the number of landline account holders in Graignamanagh is no more than 350, and when you consider that at most no more than 30% of these would have an internet connection, how can we ever possibly reach the Trigger number. Is it another ploy by EircoN to have its customers spend 15 mins trying to vote via dodgy dail-up, knowing that our votes are useless ?

This site is a complete con, I know of an exchange witha trigger of 400 and 7 or 8 indications that has already been upgraded despite there being no demand on the dsltrigger site. You get upgraded if Eircom already have fibre backhaul from the exchange, simple.

The following is a list , originally announced Feb 05 for completion (originally) March 2006 . The March 2006 date has slipped big time. The list will complete August/September 2006.

If you exchange is not done and is not on this list then it will not even be ANNOUNCED for an upgrade until summer 2006

According to the list we did in May 2004 about this scam in your town approx 92% of eligible users would need to register to reach the quota.

I was not even aware that Eircom still have the scam on the website. They certainly have become very quiet about it.

So all these should be done by next September? I know it is bad progesss, but I still can't help but be a little excited by the presence of my town on that list. I finally have some hope:D

If you ring 1800512128 they can normally tell you if you are on this quarters list or next quarters (Jan -Mar 2006) list .

How do we find out the trigger levels ? is there a site on-line that we can check what trigger levels are set to each town etc ?

We took the official Eircom triggers for our list.

But be assured Eircom's trigger program is absolutely meaningless – it never was more than a cunning PR trick.
