Are the shops open on Thurs nights?

in Dublin do the shops open late on thursdays, would the grafton st. shops be open? I know this is an obvious question, but am new in dublin.

i know river island is open until 10 tonight, so i assume the rest of them are.

Everywhere will be opening later now seeing as it's coming up to Christmas.
Though, Thursday evening has always been known as the evening that stores stay open late anyway.

on that note is there reason why thursday has generally been given the title of "late night shopping night"?
