Yeah, I'm fine as well except for H.323 one way audio [download only]. They're looking into it at the moment.

Just played a bit of counter strike source there, and it was very nice 60ms. On a full server.

Great game, forgot how good it is, and still havent lost the touch.

Looks like streaming audio is no longer working. Anyone else seeing this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭Blaster99

Problems with Skype too. The good times didn't last long.

  • Registered Users Posts: 721 ✭✭✭stakey

    The good times came back?

I had a 'slight improvement', could login to steam and enjoy horrendous pings for most of the night. Could login to Teamspeak and Skype with horrendous quality. Great download speeds of 3.4 kbps (max)!

A step up from not being able to login at all and download files at 3.0kbps I guess.

I emailed them the following this morning. No response as yet...

    "Dear Sir/Madam

Presently, I am suffering from the following problems with your service. This has been this way for about two weeks now:
    - Media (mpeg/mp3) download speeds of around 3kbps.
    - Appauling connection when used with my PlayStation 2 for online gaming. The lag makes games unplayable.
    - Outgoing voice on VoIP applications blocked. (I originally thought this was my firewall, but having checked it, this is not the case)
    - No hi-fi streaming of audio. Lo-fi barely gets the job done.
    - No video streaming.
    - Blocked P2P ports

All these errors occur when I still have a download speed of 2.3mbps, and an upload speed in the 300kbps region, so clearly this is not a connection issue, rather an issue with yourselves shaping the traffic without giving users advance warning.

Also, along with this, your site states that Tech Support is open until 9pm. I rang at 7pm and was told that this was purely an answering service and that I would be called back the following morning. Very misleading.
Please could you rectify the above problems ASAP as these problems are highly unacceptable for a 2mbps broadband connection.

    Regards"

Will be interesting to see what I get back from this...

Probably the same call I was promised.........

    still waiting.

Anyone here on the Clearwire Bray 2mb service? I'm on the look out for an IBB replacement...

Pings/experience of the service would be nice...

if u read through this thread u will realise u don't want clearwire. 18 pages of abuse for them.

    Response received:

"In relation to us this morning. We are currently taken measure to ensurre
that everone gets a equal and fair slice of the network to suit their
    needs.

We are currently working on these issues and i do assure you that we are
working round the clock to deal with all your problems.

In relation to you telephone experience, we do use an overflow serice to
take calls if all our operators are busy, the main reasons we do this is
so that the customer won't have to leave a message on an answering machine
and will have be able to explain it to human being.

I thank you cordially for your patience."

So the issues have been ducked...

I replied asking him to outline in black and white, what is and isnt permitted on the network.

Their next email decides whether the modem gets sent back or not...

In fairness to them my service is pretty good again and I did get called back. Which was surprising and appreciated.

I'm on Clearwire in Bray for about 5/6 weeks now.

The service is generally good when they aren't fecking with the ports. Constant download speed of over 2.2Mbps without interruption so far.

Please don't get it though...the fewer people I share a mast with the better for me :)

Clearwire have been launched a month or so and in that time have spent most of the time messing with ports.

This was a tricky reply to write:

Services are back such as Skype/Streaming (mmm....)/Online games but as ****e as when they started playing around with their network.

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭postie

At last streaming is back...VOIP is working...except Skype which is still very choppy. Still no P2P but I think that is the way its going to stay. Could nearly live with that if they stopped ****ing around with everything else. Ordered DSL today....typical!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭Blaster99

I switched over to IBB today (of all things), and it's very nice to use a service where you can just do whatever you like and there's no nannying traffic shaping crap going on. Clearwire does my head in.

No P2P, No VOIP as so called issue they having. I think it's time to look at their so called engineers, who's messing things up. I don't think they have a clue what they are doing. After 18 pages of complains , and lot of un happy customers, I don't know how they run a business. Never had any of these troubles, when I had DSL for about a year, I never had to ring or write their TECH Support and I think it's not right thing they doing by limiting what people can do with their service (I'm sorry if I make you people angry by calling this is a service) ,specially when they cap you , I mean within monthly upload/download limit.

Awesome pings tonight on clearwire's great 'service', can't wait to have this DSL finally sorted....

Anyone having problems today? Within the past 2 or 3 hours I have dropped connection 3 or 4 times, VoIP is patchy, VPN son't wonn4eect and Remote Desktop is VERY slow when VPN does connect.

Yeah a mate of mine who's still on clearwire hasn't been able to make a vpn connection to work.

Call of Duty games are screwed again this evening. MSN Messenger also cannot logon through ClearWire. Looks like the good old times are back!!!

On the other hand, I got great speeds from P2P earlier when I tried that!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 79 ✭✭sisyphus

Yeah, MSN Messenger problems here all this evening. Major VoIP probs all of last night and again tonight..... What a great reliable service!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Ludo

This evening is the first time in a week that I have used Clearwire so I don't know when this all started again. I have rang tech support again (and hopefully they are reading this). Better not be another long term outage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭Blaster99

I wouldn't be surprised if they're using priority queueing where some traffic obviously gets priority. So depending on how busy the network is, the lower priority services may or may not work. That would be one plausible explanation why some stuff works fine one day and doesn't work the next.

Any improvement today...i.e. does MSN work and is gaming OK?

Looking forward to a bit of COD when I get home later so I just know it won't be working again!!!

I had one or two drops in or around lunch time. Very annoying. I had one complaint on SIP quality so I had to divert to Mobile. I tried Steam [HL2CTF] at lunch time and, believe it or not, I'm getting worse pings on Euro servers than USA servers. 800+ pings on euro servers but the normal [for USA] 150ms ping [*EDIT*] for USA servers.

*EDIT AGAIN* MSN is fine too.
