This is getting ridiculous, tried using Skype again. Now it doesn't even dial out, just gives me error 6519 which, surprise, surprise, is related to ISP's blocking ports.

    wtf is Clearwire playing at?!

    eth0_,

Will you have to pay the €120 early termination fee?

If they were supplying me with the service i'm paying for, then they'd be justified in charging me a cancellation fee.

It will be interesting to see how you get on with them - (does Clicksilver await?:)

Incidentally in spite of the assurances they were supposedly giving to people their default sign up period on their web page is still two years and the required notice period of termination is still sixty days and the default sign up in lieu of notice is still a further 12 months ............ I know legal people can be slow but...............

They're breaking their side of the contract by not providing me with a broadband service. I'd like to think they won't try and charge me a cancellation fee.

I can without any problems - I'm on a Mac, which may or may not make a difference.

eth0_ I feel I must apologise to you as it was me who recommended Clearwire to you several weeks ago.

While my connection to their service is fine and downloads from the likes of apple.com and "normal" websites are excellent, P2P (limewire) and torrents (azureus) seems to be severely restricted to about 1 or 2 KB per second for the last few days. This is a ridiculous situation for a supposed "broadband service". I too have also experienced Skype problems recently which I thought were due to SmoothWall, but apparently not.

I have notified them that I would be reluctant to recommend their service if they persist with this practice and that I will waste no time in stopping the DD payment if this practice does not stop as I consider this breach of contract.

I still have an IOLBB connection (2Mb/128Kb) to which I can revert to, this service has been fine for the 2 and a half years I've used it except for the upload speed which in fairness is widely publicised for a hardwired connection and the reason I though Clearwire would be better in light of the IOBB problems.

It is regrettable it has come to this because up until now their customer service staff have been exemplary and beyond reproach (Thanks Alan & Ciaran) within the boundaries they are permitted to work.

I can not even logging in to Skype, and in Voipbuster, I can hear the other party clearly, but they don't hear me.

    Sykpe No Problem
    VoIP Softphone No Problem
    VoIP Ata No Problem
    VPN (Cisco) No Problem
    MsnMessenger No Problem

And I run VoiP calls via ata at the same time I use my VPN, chat on MSN and someone else does phone calls on a different PC via Softphone, connects to Skype and downloads stuff from the internet.

I don't do Bittorent or any other of that P2P stuff so I can't comment on that, but for what I see in SWORDS I have no problem.

I too, cannot log into MSN Messgenger. however, I do not think this a Clearwire issue as I cannot login through BT DSL either.

Luckily for me, it's Thanksgiving in USA...

My pings are fine, average about 30 to 40 ms with the odd spike upto about 100ms. Occaisionally apacket or two lost along the way. It's the packet loss that will affect me more than anything welse but I can live with 1% loss or less.

I still think it's a better service than DSL. My ping times are about half that of DSL.

And I know many of you won't thank me for this, but I have no sympathy for P2P users and don't mind Clearwire shaping that traffic as there are very few people using it legally.

well I got a reply to my cancellation mail telling me someone will be in contact about that in the next few days - they better cancel my account, that's all i'll say on the matter.

And (I was a little taken aback by this), they asked me to please keep sending them in pings and traceroutes!
For a start, why should I? They've done nothing to fix my connection, and they shouldn't need me to send them pings and traceroutes, they should be able to troubleshoot my connection remotely.

I cannot fathom them calling streaming audio an 'abuse'. I use streaming radio all the time i'm at my computer. It's hardly an abuse of their service.

I will never use a wireless ISP again after my experiences with IBB and Clearwire.

Just off the phone to them myself... P2P is being throttled, they are considering blocking all P2P traffic in the future....

NOT IMPRESSED! ESPECIALLY SINCE I'M GETTING PINGS OF 320 TO SERVERS IN DUBLIN!

Do they warn people before sign up that this will happen? If they don't then surely it is a breach of contract in that anyone signing up would have a reasonable expectation that 'normal' internet services will be available to them.

Blocking streaming audio is surely ludicrous? Next it will be streaming videos no more trailers from the Apple site...............

I asked about streaming content, he said that this was okay, I would find that a little shocking if they did ban it as their engineer actually asked me to stream news off of BBC to check the downstream on my connection once. However they did not stipulate that P2P would be deemed unfair useage of their network. I'm not impressed, sourcing new connection. Breach of contract on their half, simple as that!

I'm about to apply today for a clearwire connection for a new start up buisness in the city centre. The guy on the phone said it would be fine. I need a constant 128k streaming uplink. I'm a bit worried about this now.....Should I abandon this?

Their T&C's forbid using the service for servers.
You may not use the Service or take any action that will result in excessive consumption or utilization of Clearwire’s system or network resources, or which may weaken network performance, or which adversely affects the performance of the Services for other Clearwire customers, all as determined in Clearwire’s sole discretion. Such prohibited actions include, but are not limited to: using the Service to host a web server site which attracts excessive traffic at your Premises, continuously uploading or downloading streaming video or audio, usenet hosting, or continuous FTP uploading or downloading.

With this they could almost stop you browsing the web completely !!

    From the T&C's

"Amendments. Subject to applicable law, Clearwire may in its sole discretion amend any of the Terms or your Service Plan. Clearwire will provide notice to you of any material modification. If you do not agree to a modification that is materially disadvantageous to you, you may terminate the Agreement within twenty (20) days of the date we send our notice, and you will not be charged any Early Termination Fee."

I haven't received notice that certain applications such as P2P are now being closed down. I rang them last night and their Customer Support rep agreed with me. He claimed P2P traffic had crippled their network and that they are planning on not allowing any access to P2P over their network full stop.

Isn't the purpose of caps to limit usage across the board? If they can't handle usage within their relatively low caps, what kind of ISP are they? If people go mad with P2P then they will hit the cap surely?
