This is my Scimitar as it was when I picked it up...
It cost me £250 sterling, fairly typical a few years ago.

This is it as it is now - sitting outside waiting for the 30 year limit has taken its toll and it's been shamefully neglected.

    abe3d1b445.jpg

I'm not bothered about the paint - it was crap close up anyway and the interior has survived intact, in spite of the leaky roof. Those Webasto sunroofs are a right pain in the a*se. I have a roof section to put back into the car to restore the integrity of the roof.

Fairly typical of many Scims, it had a shedload of money spent on it in the several years before - stainless tank, ss exhausts, new trim, rebuilt suspension front and rear, etc, etc.
They can still be picked up for peanuts in the UK - just look around.

^ Why the hell did you let it go to that state?

People like you shouldn't be allowed to own classic cars.

Nice Sierra. Even the original silver-on-black reg. plates look the part.

Any plans for a restoration? It would be nice to stick a 2.9L Cossie V6 from the Scorpio into it!

@ carchaeologist and Maxdamage, yeah, i got it off a lad on everyfordireland. called granadamad. sound lad.
I took it with the original autobox and a different 2.0 pinto. Going to have a go at reconditioning the engine myself.
The paint is wrecked - all the laquer has peeled off. However, apart from one hole in the drivers wing, holes in both front doors and holes in the tailgate(!!) its actually solid. the main structure is 100%. plastic arch liners did their job. but they fell to bits when i touched them!!

Here are my two, 1980 1275GT and 1977 Escort RS Mexico. I have owned both since about 1992. The Mini needs a bit of work before it hits the road again, the escort needs even more.

Sounds like you're trying to remake the Sweeney down in Cork.

    There's a nice idea.
